Margate beach is a great place to come and enjoy some sun, sea and sand with all the trappings of a sea side town. In short - a touristy hotspot that at peak times can feel too busy to truest soak in the experience. Longer review: We’ve been coming to Margate beach for years now, having family near by. It isn’t our first pick of beaches to attend for it is far too busy at peak times, hard to find some privacy and doesn’t allow dogs… I’m sure others will enjoy the experience, but the beach is always too busy, and full of the typical commercial plastic brick and brack for such a location. Despite all this though, you can’t help but imagine why Turner loved this place so much, the view of the horizon is beautiful, and once the many tourists have left and evening hits there is a somewhat cultured feel to the place - which in all honesty is why I pull this review to 4 stars rather than the 3 I would have given.

(Please put your rubbish in the bin when you visit Margate beach. It shouldn't be so hard to keep clean your back. Even though local people clean up after you every day, they may not be quick enough to keep the garbage from spreading into the ocean. That's not fair for local people, for the future, for the world.) What a beautiful place you are Margate. The beach is wonderful, the ocean is beautiful. You can watch a mesmerizing sunrise by the stairs. I know have so many seaweed in the edge of the sea but if you walk a bit inside the sea, most of the time especially in the morning that you can have swimming experience as the Mediterranean. People are unbelievably friendly and happy. What have along the beach side: Fish and chips takeaway, fish restaurants, pizza restaurants, Turkish food & meze restaurants, cocktail bars, LGBT clubs and pubs, Turner contemporary art gallery and more things.

My first time visiting margate , I easily found parking 5 mins from the beach (Dreamland carpark). The beach was very busy ,it was a weekend and hot, so that was to be expected. The beach itself was a nice sandy beach and very big ,my honest opinion. I don't think I'd come back, a lot of people playing loud music ,bbqs right next to other people on a extremely busy day ,people drunk ( yes it's outside and people want to relax etc but when I have to shout to talk to the person next to me it annoying ,people drinking in the sea and leaving there beer cans in the sea along with dirty nappies on the beach and sea ,so much rubbish everywhere . I only found one public toilet and the que was very long because people were using them.as changing rooms . Needs to have more public toilets . The sea pool was not so nice again my opinion it there was a small and wasn't nice was very slimy best to go in the actual sea which was better we even saw fish . There's rockpools which my kids loved as they like looking for crabs and fish and we found some just wear beach shoes . Evening time we went in an arcade which was ok my kids won a few prizes

Spent a couple of hours in the area on a sunny day - sandy shoreline invites relaxation. The beach itself holds promise for endless hours of enjoyment. Yet, the overpowering smell, attributed to algae, is hard to ignore; an unusual experience compared to my beach explorations worldwide. Turner Contemporary and a few modern cafes/restaurants add charm, but the area's potential hinges on substantial investment. Beach cleanup should be the starting point. Convenient parking at Arlington Car Park Dreamland (RingGo 21608), while the unattractive side needs attention. Train station's a 5-minute jaunt, and beating the midday rush during kids holidays ensures prime beach spots. Head beyond Turner Contemporary for lovely sea views. A return hinges on reports of the smell being resolved via a thorough beach cleanup. Funfair's a bonus. Once a filming location for one episode of the great Only Fools and Horses in 1989, a push to modern standards is overdue.

Really nice and clean sandy beach that goes on for a long way. You have to go quite far into the sea before it gets deep so its very good for the family. The water isn't clear unfortunately but not that bad either. They had an area for paddle boats but that's just become a large dirty swimming pool. The beachfront isn't bad with lots of places to eat and drink. But the town centre is the place to go for proper food. The old Bembon brothers adventure park has been rejuvenated and is an added attraction. The car park on a busy day is not big enough and parking is definitely a problem. I've been coming here from north london since the last 40 years and the biggest attraction will always be the sandy beach.

We had a fabulous time at Margate. The beach was busy; it being a school holiday and sun shining, but we managed to social distance. The promenade is alive and there's choices of eateries, cafes and ice cream parlours. Having ample time on our hands, we decided to visit the Turners Museum and the highlight of it all is the 'DisappointedTourists' exhibition showcasing print photos of places long gone. Within the museum with outdoor seatings, is a clean, lovely cafe for you to unwind. A visit to Kent's old market is a must as there are a number of food stalls you can patronised. Oh, as for parking we parked by a public carpark via Morrison's and paid only £6 for the whole day.
