Today, I had a disappointing conversation with Beth from Glitz and Gowns, following a complaint I lodged about my daughter's prom dress experience. I initially reached out to them because I was under the impression, based on their verbal appeal, that they guaranteed exclusivity of each dress style per event. To my dismay, another attendee at the prom wore the same dress as my daughter, albeit in a different color.
During our conversation, Beth clarified that their policy only extends to not selling the same dress in the same color to multiple attendees, but does not prevent the sale of the same dress style in different colors. This crucial detail was not clearly communicated at the time of purchase, leading to a significant misunderstanding on my part. I felt misled by their marketing approach, which seemed to suggest a level of exclusivity that was not actually provided.
More over as a customer, Bev emphatically stated to me that she is sorry that I, emphasis on eye, misunderstood their policy. She did not offer any empathy. So, I am wondering, what is the point of the policy?!
The revelation that this policy might allow multiple students to appear in essentially the same dress, just in varying shades, is quite frustrating. It undermines the uniqueness of the prom experience, which is what Glitz and Gowns seemed to promise. In the past I have purchased dresses for my oldest daughter from this establishment as well. This purchase was for my youngest daughter. And, this is my third purchase from glitz and gowns for her. So, I am a long-standing customer and the company did not show any empathy.
Regrettably, after expressing my concerns and disappointment, I felt compelled to inform Beth that I would not be patronizing their store in the future.
This experience has been not only frustrating but also enlightening about the importance of clear communication and transparent policies in retail. It's crucial for businesses to ensure their customers have all the facts to avoid such misunderstandings and ensure a truly special and unique experience.
Sincerely, a betrayed and disappointed customer that is no longer...
Read moreI came in February to get my prom dress and I ended up picking this gorgeous red Ashley Lauren and I had only ever tried it on once in the store and it fit like a glove so I purchased it. On that particular day, they were very busy so we were kind of being being rushed in and out of the dressing room, which I understand they have a lot of other people they need to get to so I didn’t spend a whole lot of time looking at the details of the dress. Well, once I got home about a week before my prom I tried it on again just to make sure everything looked right, my dress falling apart to say the least. The zipper was coming all the way off there were sequins falling off and threads coming out everywhere. There was also a blue sequin on my solid red dress. I’m not typically one to nitpick something but when you go into a store and you were willing to pay 700+ dollars for a dress I shouldn’t have to be sure there’s nothing wrong with it. It should’ve came in brand new condition but it definitely didn’t look like a brand new dress (my best friend came with me and bought a dress with a rhinestone corset and ended up having to order glue and rhinestones off of amazon to replace 12 of the rhinestones that were very obviously missing) . I called up there and they told me that I would need to bring it in and they pretty much made me feel like i was stupid for thinking anything was wrong with the dress, she also asked me “are you sure you haven’t worn this dress?” and asked me if I was sure that the dress was news because there was no tag on it, I never realized there wasn’t a tag until she pointed it out which was odd to me considering the tag was on when I tried the dress on. they ended up ordering me a new dress in the same size, but once I tried it on, it was entirely too small. I ended up just not eating leading up to the days of my prom and hopes that I could still squeeze into the dress but overall, I did not have a 10 out of...
Read moreAlthough, initially it was tough to justify paying $700 for a single event dress for my daughter to wear to her senior prom this year, there are a few reasons that made it worth it..Reason 1 The chiffon dress was beautiful on the rack & even more so once my daughter tried it on & she fell in love with it immediately. Which makes it hard to say no to buying a $700 dress. Reason # 2, The seamstress that did the needed alterations, told me that the dress was a unique style for a prom dress, very well made & was made of a good quality fabric. So reselling would probably not be a problem, if we chose to do that. She also said that too often people incorrectly assume that the higher the cost for an elegant dress, the better the fabric & the manufacturing process, but that's not always the case. Reason #3, the young sales associate at Glitz & Gowns was very patient, so helpful, attentive & more than willing to pull as many dresses from the racks as my daughter wanted to try on. We never felt rushed or pressured to make a choice, even as my daughter tried on probably 8 to 10 prom dresses before she found " the perfect one". The young lady would offer suggestions on the fit & color options & give my daughter honest but gentle feedback with every dress that my daughter tried on. The dress, the event, the shopping experience, the atmosphere & the young sales associate at Glitz & Gowns in Pelham are what ultimately made me justify the $700 price tag for a single event dress...and of course my daughter, herself. Although, I wasn't expecting to pay that much initially, I don't regret a single cent that I paid. Thank you...
