Road tripped to Calera to go wine tasting at Corbin Farms and tried out Chubbfather's after seeing the great reviews. We were not disappointed!
We were a bit surprised at the interior of Chubbfather's. Not sure why we weren't expecting a divey atmosphere, but that's what we got. We're good with that. You place your order at the counter and they bring your food out to you.
My dad got the shrimp poboy, my mom got the sliders, and I got the Zydeco burger, with the onion rings (note that these are very small, thin onion rings, not the thick rings like you'd get in place of French fries) and Cajun horseradish sauce on the side. We all got fries with our meals.
My dad liked the poboy a lot, although he couldn't eat it all. Small stomach, he has! My Zydeco burger was probably one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. I wound up liking the onion rings but not the horseradish sauce. Regardless, the burger was juicy, cooked perfectly, with a great ratio of fat, and the BACON was fabulous. Cheese plays well with the flavors, too. My mom felt similarly about her sliders. We all enjoyed the semi-spicy fries, too. Generous portions all around.
The only reason this place gets a 4 instead of a 5 is that the bathroom was rather grimy and could only accommodate one person at a time, and the folks who took our order came across as a little impatient. Nothing that'd keep me away from that burger, though! I'd definitely revisit Chubbfather's if given the...
Read moreChubbFathers: A Birmingham Burger Bliss (with a Minor Quibble) ChubbFathers in Alabaster is a must-visit for burger lovers in the Birmingham area. This place truly lives up to the hype! The burgers are cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful with a wide array of toppings to satisfy any craving. I highly recommend the Zydeco burger - the combination of flavors is incredible. Their sides are equally delicious, especially the perfectly seasoned okra. The atmosphere is casual and family-friendly, with friendly service and a fun, local vibe. It's clear that ChubbFathers is a community-focused establishment, with their commitment to charitable initiatives like food drives. My only minor complaint is that the location in Alabaster is a bit awkward. However, the quality of the food and the overall experience make it well worth the trip. Pros: Delicious, juicy burgers with creative toppings Excellent sides, especially the okra Friendly service and family-friendly atmosphere Cons: Location may be inconvenient for some Birmingham residents If you're looking for a top-notch burger experience in the Birmingham area, ChubbFathers is the...
Read moreI was doing a job in montevallo. And we decided to try this place. The staff was awesome. Very accommodating and had good jokes too. The food was good. Albeit the location was kinda awkward. But when you have good food word travels. So as we are leaving I see a picture on the wall. With the name chalowinski. (Will if I misspelled your family's name I apologize) but upon seeing this name suddenly it started clicking. Chubfather??? If only I'd seen a crunchy country chicken sandwich. Which I used to order at a restaurant will and Dave had many years ago. Or the Nate dog. I'd have known.anyway point is I realized this restaurant it owned by will. And listening to the radio I find this guy has become a real pillar of the community..I remember him always really being into that type thing. The point is if you want quality food. And to also support a business that gives back to the community. Someone who has worked hard and built what he has from nothing. All while having a great experience with stellar service.look no further than chubbfathers. You'll be...
