On a personal level, I really like these guys. They have done a lot of good work on my van, are polite, competent and honest. I have had very pleasant conversations with the mother of the owner. Definitely good people. However, they-- very much like the Dry Cleaners across the street and so many other businesses in this relatively remote town--clearly suffer from lack of competition or they would not be able to sell junk like the 2017 Kenwood DDX9604S (with Android interface). I have spent the best part of three days to get it installed and subsequently troubleshooted, and it is still a daily aggravation, which cost me more than $1,200.00 (incl. rearview camera). First, they didn’t discover that my 2014 Ford Transit Connect is not equipped with an interface module until after the unit was installed. As a result, I am unable to use any of the vehicle monitoring functions, a big letdown. Then, it took three visits, before the usb cable connection is finally stable and reliable. Prior to the third visit I ended up replacing the cable at least once a month as it seemed to burn out. But the worst offender is the touchscreen, which is lagging by at least five seconds, if it responds at all and the Bluetooth connection resets at least once per half hour, causing me to frequently drive to and from work without music because I just can’t be bothered rebooting the system. When I am in an unfamiliar city and want to use GPS to navigate, I will have to idle my vehicle for at least 30 seconds before it finally tells me which way to turn out of the parking lot, so I end up using just my phone and google maps (like I used). It’s much faster and allows me to avoid using Android Auto, which is mandatory for the Kenwood unit and one of those shark apps, designed to totally control your cell phone and your life (hate it!). So, after spending more than $1,200.00 and nearly three days of my life all I have is a different rearview camera (already had one before), a compass (the best feature of the unit), frequently interrupted music, unreliable GPS and—no, no charger for my phone either, as Android Auto requires so much power that it only just barely keeps up the state of my phone battery. If I actually want to charge the phone, I have to plug it into my cigarette lighter. Junk. Supposedly, they are hoping for a firmware update to resolve some of these issues. After a year, I am not holding my breath. So, if you are in the market for new hands-free car audio, get it done next time you are in Las Cruces or Albuquerque. Supporting your hometown businesses can really cost you.

I have worked with these guys for years. It is so complicated to figure out what my needs are and what components I need. I hate dealing with these new cars. When i go into basin I tell the guys this is what I would like to have done tell them what my expectations are and they give me a map and price of what it will cost. They never try to sell me extras or things I dont need. I also had an amp go bad one time and they said no problem we will get it warrantied and prelaced hassle free. I have zero headaches and even if i change my mind and need something tuned they take care of that as well. I dont have time to research or do warranty or any of those things. I just want some place I can take my stuff and not worry about getting ripped or some guy who has no idea what he is doing selling me stuff that corporate needs to unload. This place is absolutely top notch. Antonio helped us make an informed decision about what equipment to install. Ultimately, we had three things installed on our truck: a hard truckbed cover (the Bakflip MX4), Retractable Running Boards (Amp Research power steps) and front/rear dash cams. To say that I am a “particular” person would be an understatement. I have exceptionally high expectations and like to keep things in mint condition.
