I can see why a lot of people like and defend this place. The same reason Texans love Whataburger, Californians love In-N-Out, Alamogordo folks love Tiger Burgers. For us, we have no loyalties to any chain, so we weren't as attached to it.
We've eaten here twice, and gotten just about the same service. If you can find a parking spot (it tends to be a bit crowded at times), you can opt to order and go, or eat at the patio furniture outside. There are a few tables inside, but very cramped as well. From order to getting food can go from 20 minutes to an hour if it's swamped. You have to decide if it is worth the wait.
The store and workers are very adamant about the fact that you will not get fast service. There are a bunch of signs reminding you (some in not such a nice way) that you should wait quietly for your (self-proclaimed good) food without complaint. I will say it appears to made to order and a lot of it from scratch. I do agree with another reviewer that I wish there was SOME sort of seasoning, even salt and pepper would do a wonder for a hand-formed patty. But that's not what we got.
For us, the burger doesn't live up to the hype the town puts on it. Don't get me wrong, it's a good burger, and if you had the choice between any McD's/BK and Hi-D-Ho, I'd recommend Hi-D-Ho. But the wait isn't worth it in my honest opinion... customers leave because of the long wait times and the servers either don't notice, or simply don't care. Instead of looking for ways to reduce ticket times, the employees and owners want you to suck it up and deal with it. At least if they were apologetic or spun it in the direction of "thank you for your patience" or something a little less arrogant, I would have a different view on it.
Good, but you may have strong opinions one way or another that may wildly...
Read moreI was recommended this restaurant by a friend and unfortunately never again. The price goes with the quality as in it is reasonable. My teeny burger with cheese tasted like a DQ hunger buster it can honestly pass as a cousin to this burger. My fries were over cooked and had no salt and were bland I threw them all away. The corn dog was amazing as it has some type of sausage taste to it, that I will say I do recommend. For my enchilada lovers please refrain from ordering this from here, no sazon aka no real flavoring to enchiladas and not even rolled. They are literally tortillas stacked with cheese and not good skip the mexican dishes here. They taste like Austin Tx very tex mex. The nachos as well if you enjoy ricos cheese then go for it if not avoid them as well. Unfortunately the enchiladas and nachos were also thrown away. Our waitress was rude, I even asked if by any chance I could borrow a plug to charge my phone since im not around from there and it was my first time, and I literally got there is no plugs in the restaurant yet we went to pay inside and there were fans plugged in -_-. Honesty goes a long and if they didn't want to lend me a plug to charge my phone that would have been better appreciated. Instead I got verbal instructions on how to get back to ep and a lie. Also keep in mind this is a drive in restaurant, so either its delivered to your car or you can eat outside, which we did and it was alrite. The signs are neat and funny at the same time. Make sure to go with time because it does take about 20 minutes or longer to get your order and another 10 minutes to place the order. If you love sazon and flavor accompanied with excellent seasoning, this is not the burger...
Read moreI'm not sure if the drive In my husband and I visited is the same place the other reviewers are raving about, even though they have the same name. Our experience was a disappointment to say the least. We ordered the Luigi burger, and it arrived a mess. The menu states it comes with lettuce, tomato, pickles, caramelized onions, mayo, Extra ketchup, and two types of cheeses. It came instead with a few slivers of onion, a ridiculous amount of ketchup, and a piece of rubberized cheese, on a cold hunk of meat that had clearly been cooked hours before. I wish I could say it was simple human error, but my husband ordered the same thing and it was made in the same manner.
Cold, soggy fries topped off this saddening meal.
We expected a wait for fresh food. We did not expect to wait the amount of time we did for a burger with less flavor than something purchased from the dollar menu at Mc donalds. If you have low expectations and have never tasted a decent burger before, I'm sure you will enjoy this place just fine. But if you're like me and prefer to waste those cheat day calories on something that actually tastes decent, just make your own or go to the wendys...
