Just had the best experience at Bottoms Up - Albany, GA. !!!!
Best selection of N/A beer in town, super friendly and professional staff, and a high end space to boot.
They just earned 100% of my business ;)
Great work y'all!!
Update: 06/22/2021
Bottoms Up - Albany, GA. Does it again.
On my quest for the perfect N/A beverage (retired drinker), I have stumbled upon some good, and not so good substitutes for my favorite flavor palates.
I walked into Bottoms up around a month ago and was cordially greeted by a smiling employee; they asked if I was looking for anything specific, the next portion of the conversation blew my mind.
I asked if they had heard of N/A spirits, such as Ritual Zero Proof (BUY) or Spiritless (DO NOT BUY).The employee was a bit puzzled as to why I would be searching for a non-alcoholic drink in an alcohol based retail store. However, they were exceptionally understanding and wrote down every brand and flavor I was looking for. They politely asked for my cell # and said they would notify me when I came in so I could pick up.
While I was in Africa, I received a text that my requested N/A spirit were available for pickup!!
I walked in today and everything was ready; additionally, they now have a N/A section for spirits, wine, and beer! Then, they asked if I would would willing to share a review of the specific bottle I purchased so they could learn more about the N/A customer base.
Small business owners, this is key. LEARN WHAT YOUR CUSTOMERS WANT!!!
Exceeding expectations doesn't describe how I feel about this store. As a minority in the beverage industry, I genuinely feel appreciated and taken care of as a customer.
Bravo 👏
I'll be back next week ;)
Now for the review:
Seedlip Drinks Grove 42 Citrus:
Neat: this particular bottle shares a flavor palate reminiscent of mixture between Patron Silver and Seagrams Gin. However, more prominent citrus (notably orange) flavors are evident. The viscosity and general thickness of the liquid is lighter than both Patron and Seagrams and feels "lighter" on the tongue. I anticipate that it will work well as a base for mixed drinks just as the two well known brands above. Very well balanced for the N/A wity no one ingredient overpower the rest - as is an issue in other brands. I enjoyed the first glass neat, and would give it a 4 out of 5 🌟 as a standalone beverage.
Mixed:
3oz Seedlip Grove 42 Citrus 1oz Sprite Zero 1 splash Roses sweetend lime juice
Shaken in tumbler with ice.
As anticipated based on the bouquet of flavors observed as a stand alone beverage, this bottle pairs exceptionally well with the other ingredients listed above. Will be my go to drink in place of other tequilla based cocktails. The orange flavor is more subtle after mixing and the gin taste is almost completely gone; however, the tequilla flavoring is still front and center - not expected given the dominance of the orange flavor as described above.
5 out of 5 🌟 as a base for mixed drinks.
Next step - Using this beverage as a base for a margarita 🍹
If you made it thus far, thanks for reading. Now go to Bottoms Up, ask for Jamie Bertram, tell him Travis sent you for any/all of your N/A...
Read more4 stars based on the nice building and super friendly staff. I have to be honest in an attempt to give some constructive criticism though....you guys probably have the worst bourbon selection in town. I was excited about a liquor store opening up in that new fairly upscale shopping center, as I thought it may be different than other liquor stores in town. I have been disappointed to find that you guys carry more bottom shelf whiskey than anything. Very limited selection even compared to other places in town. Also, the way the products are organized on the shelf makes it very hard to shop. For example, you don't have all of the Rye whiskey together, but instead have the brands together. Also things like your Green Spot Irish whiskey being mixed in with the scotches shows low attention to detail. And again, the scotches not being organized by region makes it hard to shop unless you know exactly what you're looking for. Again, I mean this review as nothing but constructive and I'm rooting for you guys to do well, but as a whiskey fan, I can't find much reason to keep coming by instead of...
Read moreThe staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. We spoke about wine for a few minutes and everyone knew their stuff. In a small town that’s hard to come by. When asked if there was something I was looking for they had a pad to take down recommendations and would try to accommodate. Friendlier staff than just about any package store I’ve ever been to and I lived in Florida with some nice ones. Good selection from wine to tequila and any questions I had they had answers. You feel like you’re a friend when you walk through the doors and even though it’s new it’s now the only place in Albany I go to for my wine or spirits needs. Fresh clean environment and it feels like you’re in a bigger city. 10/10 would recommend checking it out because I’m a picky guy and don’t leave too many positive reviews but I absolutely...
