The food was subpar. I tried both the NY Roni and the San Gennaro with my wife and neither of us finished half of a personal pizza.
The line to make the pizza was very disorganized. They were surprisingly busy for a Saturday lunch, but it seemed that it was more because they just could not get the line moving. The employees did not engage and interact with the customer. They just expected you to know what to say to them at all times at every "station." There was a glaring lack of coordination and this seemed to back up the line. It took well over 25 minutes to sit down and get the pizza.
The NY Roni pizza was greasy and salty. Part of that may have been my fault. I did add a little parmesan to the pizza before trying it, but not very much. However, perhaps it did not need at all. I asked for some marinara sauce to dip the wheat crust into and it was just tomato sauce. No seasoning at all.
The San Gennaro was all around just terrible. The peppers and onions were soggy. The sausage was bland. I have nothing positive to say about it at all.
The ambiance reminds me of Your Pie. In fact, I'd go so far as to say they have just ripped that chain off.
I'd probably give them another shot. Maybe they were just having an off day. I wish...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePros: Place wasn't too busy, got seen in about 5 minutes. Place appeared pretty clean other than the stack of used trays on garbage can. There was a good selection of toppings and even options for different doughs. Staff was prompt, though detached. Pizza was ok for what you pay for it.
Cons: Staff has no concept of proportions and balance when placing toppings, throws the taste of the pizza way off. Friendliness could use a slight bump. Pizza was brought out on THIN piece of paper on top of a perforated pizza tray. Which wouldn't be a huge issue, but the pizza was very damp on the bottom and easily dissolved the paper. Didn't see any plates anywhere, though plastic forks/knives are available.
Yikes: Ok, on to the health hazards, esp. with the flu going around. Plastic utensils are loose in a container where multiple people touch them repeatedly. Worst though is that since the soggy pizza made the paper disappear, your pizza is essentially touching the bare table through the large, ventilation holes of the thin metal tray. You might as well be eating off the table.
Conclusion: Fix the toppings to even out your flavor, tweak the friendliness/helpfulness a bit, and fix your health hazard issues and you'll have a decent place...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe venue is set to to order at a conveyor belt style counter, similar to Chipotle, Subway, or Moe's Southwest Grill. The counters were clean with well lit electronic signs behind them showing the menu. Staff was friendly and assisted us immediately despite the large to go order they were working on. We ordered Garlic Knots and a pizza with two drinks. They had a small selection of Draft and canned beers as well as a soda fountain with free refills. The garlic knots and pizza arrived together, both hot. The garlic knots were decent, the cheese and garlic seemed to have been applied after baking the dough. The bread was simple and I would prefer more of the flavor mixed through. The pizza was hot, a little heavy handed on the sauce, but not overwhelming. The crust was excellent, very light and crispy and baked well, without any doughy spots. The venue itself was clean, with two TVs playing around the room. One was set to a cooking competition show, and the other was showing the animated Cinderella movie which I found to be welcoming to anyone. By and far a...
