Fairmount Grange — Local services in Albany

I was planning my 30th birthday party when I found the Grange. It had what I was looking for so I began the process of getting it rented. Let's start from the beginning. I wanted to look at the building inside first (of course) and was told that they had quilters there that day so it be open to go take a tour. I get there and no one is there. So I try calling Cora ( women in charge of rentals) and no answer. So after going back home I later hear back and arrange again for someone to show me the building. We get there and no one is there again. We wait 15-20 minutes and nothing again. So we call again and this time she answers. The guys that was suppose to show us the building forgot and would be there shortly. So we finally see the place and go ahead with the plans so rent it ( I had already paid at this point to assure I had the date booked) The time comes for my event and we try for several days to set up a time to pick up the keys. Finally get them and then we go to set up the day before the party and the place is dirty. Bathrooms are dirty and have Feces on the toilet's ect. The kitchen is dirty, chairs are covered in cobwebs. Upstairs is dirty too. We end up cleaning the place before we use it. Then again after my event. So now we wait to hear back about the deposit. 3 weeks pass and I figure that is long enough and give Cora a call. She informs me that no one has checked the building but they have Bingo that weekend so someone would get to it before that. Another week passes and no refund, so we call again. She says it will be in the mail in a couple days. Another week passes and nothing. We call again. She has been sick but will get it in the mail that day... Another week and nothing. So at this point its 5 weeks since my event. So needless to say I'm upset about it. I leave a review on their facebook page and get a response right away that someone will contact me in a few days. That was a Friday then on Wednesday I finally get my check back 6 weeks later. And a note that says. They hadn't given it back because they undecided on if they where going to return it. When we where out there a week later to check things over, you are very luck the place didn't catch on fire. You left the coffee pot on and a small fan attached to the window. * Ok... 3 weeks later she had said no one checked it yet but someone they checked it a week later and we left a coffee pot on? We have 4 people that can confirm the pot was off and we didn't even have a fan.. And every time we called she said the deposit would be sent back soon. ect So it's more like she was keeping my deposit for whatever reason and since I contacted the facebook page ( which I believe is ran by the grange president) she tried to put the blame on me,.
