First time there so I decided to get the K4, steak, chicken and shrimp. Comes with rice and veggies. I also got the edamame. It would of been nice to have gotten the edamame ahead of the rest of the food, you know, hand it to you as you sit down so you can snack before the meal comes.. but no. It showed up with the food. Who wants to eat a snack when the meal comes. So I picked up the comically small plastic flimsy fork that only a child would use, to try to get a mouth full of food but was only able to get 3 grains of rice, some mushed up veggie and that's about it. I had to use my chopsticks (fingers) to pick up a piece of steak. This is how the meal went. Sad small fork fulls of almost a bite of food, for about 20 minutes.. OH yeah, there is that edamame that no one is touching because we're all trying to get enough food in our mouths to taste something. The steak. The chicken. The shrimp. All plastered in the same sauce. The veggies and rice seem to be in that same sauce too. An hour later I felt like I had a cup of water from the Dead Sea. Will someone PLEASE eat some edamame so I don't have to take it home. No? Yes? Please!!! End of story, I took half of it home so I could use a human sized fork and actually get a taste of something other than salt. It was cold by then. Overall, for my $20 I felt pretty good about eating in an old car wash with a table covered in soot and whatever black stuff that rubbed off on my shirt. Spoiler!!! There is a plastic cup of some sauce, I'm thinking a 1000 Island dressing thing watered down? With all the sauce on the rest of the food I have no idea what this stuff is for because I have no fries or salad to put it on. It's a solid C+ meal if you only go there one time. A 'must go' just so you can brag you went to a food truck. The grade would fall if...
Read moreWay to show this town how you do a proper food truck. First time I went to Kento, I asked the woman what I should get. Her answer made me laugh. "You look like you are having a hard time deciding," she said, "so you should get the one that has everything on it!" I did just that, and you know what? She was right! I took the food home and shared it with my girl. Perfect amount for the 2 of us. Yes we were wanting more because it was so delicious, but really think the portions are spot on for the level of quality. We've been back 5 times and it never disappoints. I can't vouch for the shrimp since it is not my favorite, but she gobbles them up immediately and loves it. I'm sure it is fantastic if it is on par to the chicken and the steak. The surprise was the rice & vegetables on the side. We're always fighting over those two by the end which is not normal! *Last thing I'm going to say - they are open every time I go by, the discipline to maintain those hours with a small crew is impressive. If they keep this up, I wouldn't be surprised to see them expanding in the...
Read moreThe meat (like many Japanese restaurant dishes) was amazing. The rice (like many Japanese restaurant dishes) was dry and bland. The veggies (like many Japanese restaurant dishes) were bland and just not very tasty.
The difference is, the portion of the meat on your plate (or rather, paper carry-out box) is shockingly small. It might take you 4 total bites to finish it. Then you slog through the rest. And, of course, it's a food truck, so there isn't even much of an atmosphere around, just a few picnic tables and a wall everybody writes on.
The food was reasonably good, but there just wasn't enough meat for the price...
