I recently visited IHG Supermarket and had an unfortunate experience that I feel compelled to share. While in the store, I heard the manager make a request over the PA system that led many of us to believe something was wrong. This caused unnecessary concern among the associates and customers present.
When one of the associates answered the call, she seemed surprised and confused, thinking there was a problem as well. Instead of addressing a serious issue, the manager was simply congratulating the staff on doing a good job, which was both unprofessional and misleading. It was unsettling to witness the confusion and laughter that ensued when it should have been a serious announcement.
To further exacerbate the situation, I approached the ladies at the front to ask who had made the announcement. Their response was delivered with a noticeable attitude, which only added to my disappointment and informed me it was their MANAGER! I let them know my concerns regarding the inappropriate handling of the situation, hoping he would take it seriously.
I believe the owner should be aware of how the store is being managed and the impact these actions have on customers' perceptions. Professionalism should always come first, especially in a customer-facing...
Read moreI think the prices are too high and I don’t see this store lasting very long now that inflation is getting worse, but here is a good break down of overall experience.
The pros: Some great selections of beer and wine A liquor store inside Great seafood and specialty meats Gourmet spices in bulk Burrito bar in the Deli Coffee shop at the Bakery Pharmacy inside Excellent sushi made daily Very unique cheese selection Their grill selection is top of the line Key cutting/replacement
The cons: Bakery doesn’t have an industrial oven to bake bread properly—no steam (most of the bread is not fresh) Produce is hit and miss They don’t refill the gourmet spices regularly—smoked applewood salt specifically (they refilled it with Himalayan) Deli and Bakery employees are not properly cross trained Retail workers: be warned they do not have an attendance policy! For better or worse depending Personal orders are frequently not made on time Company acts like its professional but its training and management is horribly dated (at this...
Read moreThis local supermarket targeted for the residents of North Albany exclusive to the area is unusually unique. It has an ACE Hardware, a full service Deli with the normally hard to find delicacies on hand like caviar, lobster, crab and the finest cuts of meat and freshest produce I have ever come across in a supermarket of this size. Plus:Bonus the state liquor store inside, also, is open until 10pm everyday except Sunday. Which is understandable as the store itself closes at 8pm on that day. Find that feature anywhere in the area and I’d be wholly skeptical if your information. The staff is very helpful and friendly. If you are going to try to shoplift there. I would highly advise you not do it in this store. Their security is top notch I have heard. At any rate, this Roth’s IGA was a good replacement for the grocery store that shut down not long after it opened there. Go IGA! Go Beavers! Check it out yourself and tell me I am lying. Got to love the liquor...
