We have eaten at Momiji in Albany, Oregon many, many times, and the food has been pretty good. Yesterday, we had lunch there and were sorely disappointed. I ordered Unagi Donburi (one of my favorite Japanese foods) and my wife ordered the bento lunch box. We also ordered green tea. The green tea arrived and we discovered that there was NO green tea in the hot water. We thought, OK, honest mistake, they forgot to steep the tea, or neglected to add tea to the pot (who knows?). Anyway, we requested a re-do and they kindly complied. The miso soup was lukewarm at best. Disappointing. The Unagi Donburi was served in a non-standard fashion, with a lump of wasabi on the corner and some pickled ginger. Now, I like both of those things, but have never had them placed on a Unagi Donburi dish before. I removed them, but it was not something I have experienced before. The unagi itself was not the best I have ever had, and the rice beneath was not cooked to perfection. The chicken in my wife's bento was dry and chewy. The wait staff were friendly and did remedy some of the above complaints. It is rare for me to post negative reviews, usually I just shine it on, but this time I felt it warrants a mention of dissatisfaction. We will probably eat at some of the other Japanese restaurants in the area...
Read moreI came in with my grandson and asked for a table in the far-left corner so as to seat ourselves as far from others because of Covid 19. He gave us a table closer to people and left. I picked up out utensils and napkins and moved to the table I requested. He came back and said the table I had moved to was reserved for the employees. So I moved back to the table that he gave us and I accidently knocked my water glass over in the process. He seemed annoyed at me. When finally taking our order he seemed uninterested and did not ask us what we wanted to drink. I had to flank him down to get some hot tea like I usually order. The waitress gave me a clean white towel to clean up my own mess on the table. Then I knocked over the soy sauce, and cleaned it up with the same rag. I was upset with the bad service and was about to get up and leave but my grandson said maybe they are having a bad day. I stayed and finished the meal and even gave a gracious tip showing that I had no hard feeling. But if this kind of service continues, this wont be my favorite place to...
Read morePlaced order online, via Google. Showed up to pick up my food and they claimed they never got my order. The story changed from it takes 30 minutes to an hour for the site to get oder to them, then it changed to they don't work with that. So...$50 out of my account for NOTHING. The hostess didn't even try to be nice or offer a solution. She just told me to dispute the charges with my bank...Just given an "oh well" attitude. I will NEVER go back there. The service used to be good but this was downright poor customer service....took my money and still had to go find dinner elsewhere. I will dispute the transaction. I will also never give this place another penny of my money. Learn how to treat people. Alert your customers to online order issues. Adjust your Google listing to properly reflect online order options. It's bad business practice for you to allow this, and allow it to be associated with your business....and you do NOTHING to alert your customers. Again...you lost...
