Kracked Crab — Restaurant in Albany

I’ve been coming here for a long time now. I can’t believe I haven’t already reviewed the place! I’ve had experiences with multiple staff, with the owner, and even got to meet his family. I’ve been treated with nothing but respect and sincerity by everyone I’ve met, feels like family every time I’m there, and not one time has the food not been astronomically above my expectations. Which have increased with every time I’ve gone. It’s a 30 minute drive from Salem for me to go here but they’re so far above any of the places locally that I will continue to make the trip regularly! Nothing compares to Kracked Crab Albany! Ask for a collab you can get at The Barn between them and Slinkeys cheesesteaks. Kracked Crab deep fried lobster tail on a ribeye cheesesteak with sweet peppers and caramelized onions on a hoagie with that OG cheese whiz!...

WOW! First off: The Barn as a whole is a great place overall. Now, back to the Kracked Crab review: I have never had crab from a food truck... on the surface, it sounds like a gamble... turns out - GREAT CRAB! Very very good sausage. Egg is a nice side. Plenty of tasty potatoes resting in a yummy butter sauce. AND, I was surprised at what is usually "just a side",,, the corn on the cob was so good that I could have had 2 more! Definitely tied in the top 3 of food truck expenses in my life! .......... not the cheapest truck on the block. But totally worth it!!!!! Locals,,,,, you already know of this place. Travelers... Delicious food and amazing flavors—truly one of the best crab dishes I’ve had in a long time! The seasoning was on point, and the quality of the seafood exceeded my expectations. I would absolutely recommend this spot to any seafood lover.

However, I was disappointed that crab crackers weren’t provided with the order. I tried tackling it with my hands, but the shell was far too hard to break. Unfortunately, that meant I had to take the food home to eat it properly. For a place that sells crab, shell-cracking utensils should definitely be available on-site.

Tip: If you forget yours, there’s a store across the street near Mimoji that sells them for around $7.
