I enjoy crafting and I was so excited to come in to check out the product in this store, as I had never been to this location before. I really enjoyed looking around and gathered quite a bit to purchase.
I get to the counter and inquire about an item that I didn't see a price on, and both clerks at the counter don't say anything as one of them is ringing me up. The clerk at the counter tells me my total and because the two clerks at the counter didn't answer my inquiry, my partner goes to double check the item I had inquired about and finds the price that I missed.
There were two of that particular item and the one my partner brought over was open in the back, so I had them bring the one that was still sealed/unopened.
I decided to add on the item to my total, so the clerk had me press the red x to cancel on my end and then added the item onto my purchases.
There were no numbers on the credit card swipe machine or anything to indicate that I needed to swipe my card yet, so I waited until the clerk told me to swipe. I did and nothing changed on the screen. I was told to swipe again and that's when my debit card declined. I was asked to try again and it declined once more.
I double checked my account because I knew that I had more than enough to cover the cost and there was . I then suggested that I use a credit card instead, knowing that I have plenty of funds to cover the cost. That card declined too.
At this point, I'm uncomfortable because I know that I can't be the reason my cards keep declining, and I am pulling out yet another card while the clerk calls someone over. Meanwhile I'm so embarrassed because, although I've done nothing wrong, I have two cards in a row declining and at this point the clerk is just as annoyed as I am.
Another person comes over and seemingly does not know what to do, and after a few minutes, they call a manager over who tells the clerk to simply use the second register that is right beside the one that they were using. I hand them the first card I had used, my debit card and it went through beautifully on the first try.
The clerk then smiles sweetly, apologizes while the manager reboots the register that gave us all the problems.
The paper I bought is beautiful and made well, the boxes are super cute and I'm looking forward to crafting and gifting what I make, but I have to say that I won't forget this shopping experience and how I felt.
Even after the apology when my card went through on the second register, I just felt terrible, though I had done...
Read moreAlong with Papyrus, Paper Source is one of my favorite stationery stores. They've got it all - greeting cards, books, invitations, stamps, embossers, waxes, seals, writing instruments, office supplies, paint supplies, crafts, and knick knacks for all ages. The greeting cards are high-quality and very cute. You also get a lot of options to browse through. You can get custom-made invitations, thank you cards, programs, menus, announcements, labels, and tags made here too. One of my coworkers had her wedding save-the-dates made here. You can get place cards, table tents, custom coasters/napkins, wedding stamps, address labels, and favor boxes made. They have a huge fine paper selection in the back. There's vellum paper, decorative printer paper, and accented papers.
I love browsing through their knick knacks and I even made a splendid purchase of a floating rubber duck tea infuser. Yesterday I passed by and spotted a table filled with donut-inspired trinkets, from magnets to an inflatable pool float. This changes and you'll never know what you'll find.
Another great thing about Paper Source is that they have online how to videos and workshop classes. Paper Source also hosts private parties and you can request a private party of family and friends to work on a fun project together in the store.
Staff are all friendly and seem knowledgeable. This place, like most of Old Town, is also dog-friendly so you'll spot some...
Read moreThis paper source has all of the products that any other Paper Source carries. I have recently moved to Old Town and was trying to find a place that carried Crane and Co. Stationary. I went to this Paper Source knowing the that they carried the Crane and Co. Product line. When I first walked into the store, I was not greeted and when I was greeted the staff member was very short, rude and it seemed that I was an inconvenience. When I asked the staff member if they carried Crane, she pointed in the direction of the catalogue and walked away to chat with other staff members. So I found the catalogue and and looked through the options. I had to go to the check out counter to ask a staff member for a price quote and she told me that I needed to look in the back of the book. Thankful I have used the Crane ordering tools before and I was able to find the price guide and match the items to determine the price. When I asked the staff member to assist with placing the order she huffed and this is when I politely thanked her for her time and left.
This is the not the level of care that I have received in the past when utilizing paper source to order stationary, but above all this is the not behavior that one should be treated when they are about to spend $500 or more on customized stationary. Paper Source has lost a...
