IF YOU HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE, SPREAD THE WORD TO NOT SUPPORT THIS SHOP AND LEAVE A 1 STAR REVIEW. I’m not sure if the lady I was talking with is the shop owner or just an associate but I hope to never see her again. She spoke down to me and didn’t really try to help even tho she offered help when we first walked in. She seems like a very two-faced, fake person and I don’t want to support her business ever again. The shop is cute but the tall brunette lady who was there is really rude and condescending. There was a bag with clips that could fold into itself and I asked if she could show me how it works (so that I could know how to refold it after buying it) she said “ why do even want to fold it?” And “haven’t you ever folded a t-shirt? It’s not that hard, just get creative or you don’t have to fold it at all” I tried to laugh it off and say “I haven’t folded a shirt with a clip before” but I was shocked and my faced turned red and my sister tried to help the situation by folding the bag away but it still left such a bitter taste in my mouth after I left. She was giving Obviously I didn’t buy the folding bag because the interaction and put back most of my items. I left buying one towel and apologized to her for bothering her about the bag. She didn’t apologize back or anything. She just told me nobody ever asked her before and I was entitled to ask. It was still weird experience in the shop which is a shame because I love the area and would’ve loved to make it a spot that I go to often. Needless to say, I won’t be back. Don’t buy anything from here and if you had a similar experience, I encourage you to leave another 1 star review with your experience to spread the word that this place was being run by a...
Read moreOriginally I was surprised to see the number of higher ratings attributed to the shop, but now I’m beginning to wonder just how many people have visited and simply decided to not come back. If it weren’t for the super friendly and helpful sales associate on the floor, this visit would have been a total loss.
This quaint shop has a treasure trove of nice trinkets and other unique finds that are great reminders of a visit to Old Town, but our experience with the gentleman working in the store during our visit today around 12:30 was puzzling, to say the least. His aggressively brusque tone made the environment unwelcoming and, looking back, we probably should have left as soon as he snapped at us the first time.
My son, who is always super friendly, said “Have a good day, Sir” as we were leaving the store, to which he gruffly and sarcastically replied, “Yeah.”
Really, Sir? This is Old Town Alexandria, a place where one expects friendly people and smiling faces. I am not sure if this behavior is normal, nor will I risk the chance of finding out by ever visiting again. I do not recommend this place. Take your $$ a few doors down the sidewalk to the Christmas Attic for unique finds and...

UPDATE 11/18/2021 - We have moved back to the area and needed to stop here again. Still lots of great stuff for Old Town and Virginia/DC area. I happily purchased this sweatshirt (wearing it as I write this) to add to my "I'm no longer in Florida" winter wear. It is soft and plush on the inside and the shirt washes well (inside out). If you can't find what you are looking for here, then you didn't look...
