I called about an issue I was having with getting the speakers and amp dialed in with my Jeep Wrangler. Steve answered the call and was very friendly. He told me when to come in and they would take a look at it. When I arrived I met Ian and Steve. He jumped in the Jeep with me and told me to turn it up. He then explained some flaws of the Jeep Wrangler to me. He said the speakers and amp I had were plenty. He then told me to give them some time to play with the system and get the settings where they need to be. I went to wait up front with my 3 year old daughter. A short time later he came up to let me know they had the Jeep sounding as good as he could with the set up I had. I checked it out and it had a cleaner non distorted sound which I was happy with. It still lacked bass. (Not their fault, my Wrangler didn’t have a sub) He then explained what I can do to get even better sound out of it. He ended up selling me a Kicker 10” sub and an Alpine amp for it. He explained I could go with a less expensive option but from the info he gathered from me he just knew I wouldn’t be happy. I took him up on his suggestion and they did the install immediately. Ian did the install for me. Top notch guy! The install is clean. Nothing hacked up. Wiring is tight and neat. He was super friendly and answered all my questions while he was working. He never once gave me the feeling that I was bothering him. He’s a valuable employee. They called me to the back when it was done and told me to turn it on. I turned it up and the sound was incredible! Ian walked through all the settings with me until he knew I was clear on what he was saying. It’s a night and day difference from what it was when I brought it in. I’m very satisfied!! If you’re looking for an audio shop that works with any budget and does quality work go see these guys. They offer a lot more than just audio too. They’re honest, and let you know exactly what you need. It’s a no pressure experience. They have toys in the waiting room to keep kids occupied too. My 3 year old didn’t complain once while we were there. Great job...
Read moreThis was the second round of work that Ian and Steve at Audio Guys had done on my 1990 Nissan 300ZX. The first was last fall when I had them install an Alpine head unit to replace the OEM stereo. I was hesitant to get any optional work done on my car, as it's in pristine condition with less than 13,000 miles on the odometer and I know the dash had not been taken apart before. After reading many 5 star reviews, I trusted Audio Guys with the install, which turned out great and the car remained in pristine condition. This year, we were going to replace one of the amps that are part of each individual speaker with the OEM Bose setup with the 90-96 300ZX. Additional, amps were going to need repair/replacing, so it was decided to go with new speaker installs and a 4 channel amp to run them. As before, I wasn't thrilled with having to take both door panels off and most of the interior plastic trim off of the trunk area to get access to the speakers, but it had to be done and I knew that the car was in highly professional hands with Ian. As before, you'd never know that the car had been taken apart, other than the fact that the sound coming from the stereo system is now incredible. Ian hid the amp in the dash, so other than the modern head unit I have, you'd never know that the rest of the system wasn't OEM. They had this work done in less than a day. Additionally, the price was fair. Work of this nature isn't cheap, but the value is excellent. Steve was sharing some pics of some resto-mod sound system work they did on a couple of pristine early 70s Chevelles and a 442, as well. Ian's care with his work, and the vehicle he's working on, is top notch. Obviously, as a repeat customer with a classic car, I highly...
Read moreNot great with foreign systems, I brought mine in and after 4 hours they couldn't figure it out, they ran into a problem to which I said "is it this problem?" (Referring to a service notice on the product) And was told no, it's something else.
Turns out it was exactly that problem, and after fixing it myself it had a new problem, they described what other issues they had run into to me and I said "that sounds like a short" (meaning they messed up the wiring earlier) to which I got "no it sounds like it's because it was made in China" Mind you this is a product with about 100 million units sold in over 100 countries. After missing an appointment for them to try and fix it, I decided screw it, I'll just do it myself. Lo and behold once again it was like I thought, the techs had cut the AMP wire and it wasn't connected.
At the very start of this project I was assured "yeah, we work on foreign units all the time, should be no problem for us"
I suppose my biggest gripe is a lack of accountability, I kept getting excuses and it left a bad taste in my mouth, I'm sure if you want a head unit by pioneer, Sony, JVC, these are your guys. They were professional and knowledgeable in those areas.
If you call in and ask if they can install something and they say "never heard of it" maybe you're better off on your own
Edit: seems the owner didn't like my review and my "knock off radio", weirdly enough, the radio is working absolutely fine now that I took over on the job. Guess it's not so knock off huh?
See what I mean about...
