Been there a few times and there always was an issue with something but nothing major. This was the final one for me WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN! I was checking out everything was goinging smoothly until olive oil rung up $9.99 but the tiny yellow sign said $7.49 (they don't stamp prices on their items). Sure enough 2 rows of 4 bottles of oil and it said $7.49. The manager then got on his knee. Right above the price in tiny letters that are covered with the shelf overhang he read that this price is for a different oil they no longer carry. His tone was putting the blame on me. I said do you think everyone gets on their knees for every item the purchase to make sure the label matches the product? He said, in a rude voice, if you go to a Toyota Dealership to purchase a car...before he could continue I stopped him first of all Toyota will have a price on each car second what the hell does A Toyota have to do with Olive oil? I told him he hard HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS. He kept going in circles without addressing the issue at hand. He then said "I bet if it would have rung up lower you wouldn't have complained" let's just say all his employees were up front because I lost it. Bottom line I WILL NEVER SHOP...
Read moreMy family has been shopping at various branches of this store for years, at least as far as 2006 when I moved to Florida because that's when they introduced me to it.. Well, yesterday I went shopping and realized when I got home that the bottle of curry I purchased wasn't among my items. I go back to the store and they pull it up on the camera and say it went into the bag with the tomatoes. However, I realized we didn't have those either. I had grabbed my bags out of the cart before leaving the store so I never took the cart outside. What struck me was the energy with which they defended that I had to have that bag when I clearly came into the store because I did not. Meanwhile, if I had been at Publix or Winn Dixie, I'd have the items replaced in seconds - no questions asked. So now after my grandmother has spent thousands and a stroke has caused her to not be able to shop for herself, a 20 year relationship ends over a bottle of curry and some Roma tomatoes. I deal with too much integrity to accept treatment like this. Farewell, ...
Read moreShop here a couple times a week, as they always have what I'm looking for when it comes to creating Spanish dishes. They even have a small Asian dry goods section which has bailed me out of a jam here and there as well.
The staff is extremely helpful and the place seems well run. You'll find good deals here every day of the week on produce, meats, all things rice and beans, Caribbean and latin American root vegetables, spices, as well as olives peppers, etc. There's a small market that has both pastries and a pretty decent selection of hot empanadas, both baked and fried, with a flour pastry or corn masa, from Venezuela, Columbia, Argentina, etc. They have the mildly spicy condiment from Columbia known as aji. Don't forget to ask for it, it'll improve the empanadas. Personal favorites are the Venezuelan empanadas. The commoner lightly fried corn Masa exterior the houses either chicken, beef, or cheese. Personal favorites are the beef or...
