I've contemplated a long time about posting my experience with this salon, and ultimately decided it was best to share. I drafted thus in December and felt I wanted to share.
I booked my appointment at 1:15 (basic cut since I've never had good experiences with curly cuts) and was told Angel would be taking care of me. The receptionist assured me most of the stylist had experience with curly hair. Day of I get a text from him asking if I can come in at 1. I do with no problem only to wait past 1:15 while he finishes with his client. No problem, I understand timing can't always be perfect.
I get to his chair and I show him videos of what I want. I let him know I've been growing out my hair and only want the dead ends snipped and a bit of face framing with layers. The words "bare minimum" were thrown in for good measure.
He starts cutting my hair dry and doesn't really ask any questions till he gets to the face framing. I let him know I would like the first piece to fall at my cheekbone and flow from there. When he was done he washed my hair he but not my scalp. I could still feel oil and build up. We went back to his chair and he decides to diffuse my hair...I had let him know I don't use heat on my hair, I avoid products with alcohol and avoid the hair dryer since it never turns out well.
He completely disregards this and didn't offer any styling alternatives. The products he used had alcohol that left my hair feeling dry and stringy. Just as predicted, my hair looked insane. It took me back to a time when I struggled with my hair and felt the most insecure. I'm positive the waiting patron felt pity for me based on the sad small smile she gave me when I was paying.
Disappointment and heartache set in immediately. I had finally gotten to a place that was manageable and had me feeling confident which has been an ongoing battle. I spent a lot of time, energy and money on my hair to get it past my mid back only to have it cut to my shoulder blades. The face framing is staggered and the back has scraggly pieces that are the original length. I've snipped the longest pieces since it was driving my brain insane, but it's agitating to know there are several more pieces like it.
I've gotten poor haircuts in the past, but never to the point where I had to go back and speak to someone. I met with the owner and expressed my grievances. She was very sympathetic offering me a full refund and correction cut, but after this experience I don't see myself having the courage to see another stylist. She admitted that he was a new hire and would be using this a learning experience for him. It was an oversight on their end to place me with him without knowing the extent of his abilities.
Angel, if you're reading this, you ruined 2 years of progress and I hope that both sides of your pillow are warm and uncomfortable...
Read moreThe first time I booked an appointment it was for a curly cut for my daughter. Upon booking the appointment I wasn't given any specific instructions. To my surprise when I arrived at the salon I'm being told that unfortunately Roz the Deva Curl stylist couldn't do the cut because the hair needs to be curly and dry. (My daughter decided to flat iron her hair the day before🤦) Roz had asked us if we'd received any confirmation via email for the appointment, but we didn't. She saw how disappointed we both were and decided to give her a wash and style instead. Which she left that night looking amazing. The transformation alone with just a wash and style left us flabbergasted 😮😍🤗
I decided to book another appointment for the curly cut and moisturizing treatment for my daughter and at the the same time for my son and myself. I booked the appointment at 9am with Roz. On the day of the appointment she started right away as soon as we got there and in between working on my daughter she started working on my son(4yr) and mind you this was his first hair cut. He behaved so well, didn't fuss. As my daughter sat under the dryer with her treatment we waited and waited and waited. I thought maybe I could be worked on while that was going on. But the salon itself was very crowded that morning and the moment she decided to wash my hair another stylist brought another client to rinse out her hair. So back to the waiting area I went. The timer on my daughter's hair was up so she had to wash the treatment off. All in all my son and daughter's hair came out looking great but I ended up not being able to get my hair done because the salon was too crowded. I felt that the stylist wanted to leave as well when she asked me if I wanted to reschedule. I couldn't stay there any longer my kids were starving as was I. We were there since 9am to end up leaving at 1:16pm!!!🤷
Now don't get me wrong this salon offers great services. But perhaps they're booking too many clients around the same time. Idk but I feel that from the time we had arrived to the time we left we should've all been able to have gotten our hair done. Next time I'll only book one appt per person.* I left feeling really annoyed and...
Read more10/10 Will go back again! I went to just get a quick consultation because I hadn’t had my hair handled in a year, especially after two salon visits to another salon earlier in 2020 that cost me a pretty penny and washed out ASAP after. I had seen such great reviews about this place, and it was so close and convenient so I thought why not give it a try. When I walked in, I immediately felt comfortable! It’s such a friendly, calm salon. It’s small and the vibes are immaculate. Everyone’s enjoying their services, the stylists are cool and actually have conversations with everyone. You can also see others getting their hair done beside you and talk with one another. So all in all, a very relaxing experience filled with knowledgeable artists that just want to share their craft with you!
And I have not seen one review on here yet for Sydney, who did my hair, so a big shoutout is due! I wasn’t sure what I wanted and Sydney pulled out some ideas and it was perfect! We hopped into doing my hair, had fun, and gave me great advice of how to care for my thin and fine hair! I look bomb as all get out now and I got a confidence boost from the hairstyle, hair color, everything. Sydney also worked with my budget (I’m a student LOL, but I do not mind paying for quality, getting my hair done is a luxury thing) and, what can I say, I feel like a million bucks.
So yes, I will be going back to see Sydney, and yes, I fully recommend this salon for someone who loves quality work and down-to-earth vibes!
(Mind you, my previous salon does Fergie’s hair so that speaks a lot in terms of how much I prefer Studio C and Sydney and their excellent...
