Metro Diner — Restaurant in Altamonte Springs

First, I just wanna say that this was a one-off. I have enjoyed coming to Metro Diner for a whole almost 10 years now. We decided after work that we would hit up the Altamont Springs metro diner. And it only had about 4 tables, including hours. That was sad, so it wasn't busy at all. For dinner this night, we wanted to have our usual meal. The famous Pot Roast, one of our favorite dishes, was sold out, so we got the Burger for my husband, and I wanted to try the new Hawaiian pork bowl which looked great in the picture. Our waitress sat us over in the section immediately to the right as soon as you walked in, which only had the booths and one table with a family of 4. The place was practically empty for 6 pm at night. As we waited for our order, we started seeing a few things that we may have missed if the place was full, like normal. But now we are seeing edges of chairs, torn and ripped, the table across from us was being supported under one leg with a plastic menu holder and the wall under our window had some kind of dried food residue swiped across it. I don't think I have ever seen this place in such disarray. When my Hawaiian pork bowl came out, it didn't look ANYTHING like the picture. The nice plump pieces of pork with a sweet and spicy pineapple sauce certainly were not what I received! My burnt, crispy, and tough bits of afterthought meat, thrown on top of some day-old rice, was killiNG my appetite. The waitress took it away and brought me a simple tossed salad with a cup of bland chicken noodle soup and even that was like the end of the day, just throw some red onions on top of this bag-o-salad with the bottom of the pot cup-o-soup, and get them out of here type of attitude. I was requested oil and vinegar for the salad, and when I got the bottles, they literally dropped on our table, had a very sticky film on them! I was so discouraged, and to top it off, before I had even taken a 3rd bite of my salad, the ugliest horse fly flew right on the side of my bowl! My husband quickly tried to flick it away, only causing it to land in the salad. I was DONE! I'm not sure if we will be back, sorry to say, as his burger was great! Worst service . Me and my husband asked for a table outside . Drinks was ordered first . The waitress took 20 minutes to bring the drinks out. The restaurant was slow and there wasn’t many other customers so there was no reason for us to be waiting that long for drinks. When she finally came back with the drinks , she told us that she will be back in 5 minutes for us to order. 20 minutes went by, then 30 minutes went by . Nothing. My husband went inside to see if they forgot about us. He walked in and saw our waitress counting money at the front without acknowledging him. She left him standing there. He finally came back out and told me that they told him that someone will come help us order. 10 minutes passed. Nothing. 20 minutes passed , nothing . 30 minutes passed nothing. I had to walk in to have someone come out . A new waitress came out and apologized and blamed the last waitress for the delay stating that they’re in between shifts and she doesn’t know why the last girl left us like this . She took our order and and left . We waiting another 25 minutes . She finally came out with just the eggs and potatoes but not the main course. Who wants to eat just eggs when you ordered waffles and pancakes . The drinks was watered down at that point. She did not return with the rest of the food until about 25minutes later. At that point , everything else was too cold to eat . We just tried to eat the food because we got tired and was ready to just leave. She came out with the check, put it on the table and left. We waited another 30 minutes for her ti come out and take our card to pay. At that point I complained because my potatoes was so burnt that I couldn’t eat it . I had waffles that I was going to take home but before I could ask for a to go box she piled 2 other plates on top of it and took it. I asked to speak with a manager . He came out and took only $9 off the $50 bill.. at that point we didn’t really care any more must wanted to leave. Whatever you do, please Dont waste your time or money at this location. You will be upset.. we also observed other people sending their food back because the food wasn’t cooked correctly or tasted good.. The waitress name was Marisol. We arrived at the restaurant at 3:00 pm and didn’t leave...

Went there because we saw a lot of great reviews. The positives, were: Kind staff (not smiling or energetic looking, but they were coming out of a full house rush). The unsweetened tea is phenomenal! I had no need to put sugar in it, it has such a fresh taste. I saw a lot of great looking plates. I should have ordered the meatloaf, it looked awesome. My boyfriend's food, perfectly cooked the way he liked it. Overall (I didn't use the bathroom) the appearance was clean. The negatives, when we sat at the table, my arm immediately was stuck with pancake syrup. There was a sticky ring left. It was cleaned properly when asked, so I really didn't care. We ordered the Shrimp Corn Chowder, Holy Davoli with a side of Hash Browns, and the Classic Burger with a side of fruit. The soup came out room temperature, affecting the texture, but the flavor was there. Like I said, Holy Davoli with side of H.B., awesome! My classic burger, hardly any lettuce or onion (as seen in picture) and the only one slice of tomato was literally the end piece with the stem root. The cheese was hardened over. The fruit was good and fresh except for the piece of brown lettuce I found in it, as well as a cold French fry (as seen in picture). This has me concerned about cleanliness in the walk-in. They forgot my mayonnaise and I had to attempt more than once to flag someone down, as staff hesitates to look up and around at customers for anyone who may need something. I noticed another customer with the same issue. Burger was cooked to my liking, but lack of toppings definitely brought it down a notch.
