Was an okay theater, but definitely has room for improvement.
Pros: The staff was extremely friendly. There was a wide variety of drink options with free refills. The self-service on popcorn was interesting and you were able to purchase your snacks and tickets at the same counter. The small theater sizes allowed for a more personal theater experience. The prices certainly couldn't be beat, especially for seeing a new movie. Love the recliners. They were comfortable and the little tables on each seat were nice to have.
Cons: The biggest downside was that the sound-proof in the individual theater rooms was non-existent. You could hear the movie from next door playing through the walls during the quiet parts of our movie. The seats were kind of off and if the person in front of me hadn't reclined their seat back, I would've had a hard time seeing the screen. The address on google maps sends you to the other end of the mall, where Macy's used to be and so we had a difficult time finding the theater, especially since the only entrance was kind of hidden at the back of the mall. Had to ask a mall employee where the theater was and then had to drive all the way around the building because there isn't an entrance to the theater from inside the mall (which you'd think there would be if they wanted to get more business to the mall and especially since the directions to the theater sent me to the completely other side.) Online, when purchasing tickets, it looks like seats 4 and 5 are right next to each other, but in reality the aisle to walk down is in the middle, so our assigned seats where separated. Luckily, our show time didn't have many people, so we were able to just scoot down one seat and sit next to each other. Not the biggest deal, but would be problematic if a family came during a sold out night thinking their seats were right next to each other when they weren't.
This theater has great potential if these things were fixed, especially the sound-proofing. Will definitely try this theater again, maybe in a spur-of-the-moment "let's go see a movie tonight" situation or to see a smaller film, but I don't think I'll come here for huge "I've been waiting for a year to see this",...
Read moreThis place didn’t disappoint me at all! We went to see the Tom and Jerry movie as a family. The theater is very clean and the staff is also very friendly. You can pay online and they also have an app that has a reward system that is really decent and easy to set up. They should set up a separate line for people that prepay their ticket though for busier times. We were fortunate because the show time was 4:15 on a Saturday so there wasn’t a line at all. But I would imagine the busier night time showings would be a different story. The packages for concessions where decently priced for the endless popcorn and refills. They have great soda choices via the coke freestyle fountain drinks. Their snack options were a smaller variety which isn’t bad at all but they are limited in comparison to an Amc. Their rooms for showings were smaller and I liked that. The chairs were comfortable and the walkways had plenty of space even when chairs are reclined. The sound and video was very great! The only real complaint I would have is that they were showing Godzilla in the next room. There was a few times I heard that movie going on while we were watching ours. I don’t know if that is because of the soundproofing between the walls? Or if it was just the sounds needing to be worked out between the movies that are showing? Either way all in all it was a...
Read moreNCG Cinema knocked it out of the park with thise 8- screen movie theater! We attended their soft opening. Thanks to Mayor Brent Walker for the invite and the dream for a movie theater back in Alton. From the moment we walked in the doors was a great experience! The greeters were friendy and we got to pick out our own seats. This really aided in the social distancing if that's a concern of yours. You fill your own popcorn tub and butter with the push of a button. You can also purchase from a selection of 4 different popcorn seasoning for under $2. The self-service fountain sodas were top notch with a variety of choices for everyone. They also have the option of a wine and beer bar. When we made our way to the seats, they were electric leather recliners with trays to be hand free 🤯. Wonder woman was the movie we watched, sound and picture was great. We will definitely return in the near future. Thankful for the new addition to Alton....
