so i had to go to the store to purchase a swing set i originally was purchasing online. before check out it offered to apply for a academy credit card and get $15 off and free shipping (score i got a discount so i thought....) so i did and was approved it put my info in to check out i then registered for an account and once i was done all my academy credit card info was gone. so i call customer service they couldn't help stated i had to go to the store...so on my 1hr lunch break i went to hopefully complete my purchase once i arrived at the store the lady helping was not very sure of anything kept calling on her walkie talkie to ask all the questions i had so i asked for a manager all i wanted to do was purchase the swing set with the new academy credit (so i could get my $15 off) i had and have my husband do the curbside pick up (which is offered due to Covid-19) in his bigger vehicle cause it would not fit in my car. So kelly(manager) comes to assist she refuses to allow me to purchase the swing set in store states they can not hold items purchased in store i had to take it with me.. I understand there is policies but i had a issue with online now I'm in store you think she would try to help out an just hold the item I am PURCHASING but no she did not. She did try to allow me to purchase a gift card for the amount i will pay online with my academy credit card then told me no i couldn't use it online to pay.... another issue. she then agrees to hold the swing set until 5pm(i work till 5:30pm) but would not allow me to PURCHASE it. she said i had to come back to purchase the swing set and then my husband can pick it up. It literally makes no sense why I could not make my PURCHASE and my husband come back to pick it up. SO she wanted both of us to come back TWO people to come back into the store again when she could of just made the sale and let me be on my way but she did not want the CUSTOMER to get her way. Read morePurchased a firearm through the online system. Entered an address that didn’t match my ID card. I then told the employees that that was where I received my mail. They then asked my residential address. I told them what it on my ID is my residential but I also own and apartment that I live at sometimes. They then refused to sell me the firearm, refused to cancel the order until I was on the phone with the corporate office for 20 minutes before the guy behind the counter named “Sam” proceeded to tell me that the manager all the sudden “canceled” the order. I then spoke to corporate Academy and they said as long as I confirmed my address was the residential address I should have been able to purchase the firearm. The last time I purchased a firearm I had no issues like this. Of course new people in here everytime I come in. Terrible customer service and lack of leadership. The manager refused to cancel the order until I was about to get her boss on the line then it’s magically cancelled while on the phone with customer support. This academy has gone down hill. That’s why I use local places to purchase all my new firearms. Trash store, trash customer service. Refusing to sell me something I paid for already because of an address on an online order. The lady on the customer support line was more than helpful though and she told me it’s not standard procedure to not sell you the firearm if the address doesn’t match your ID on the online order. She says if you confirm your address is your residential (which it is) then they can sell it to you. They apparently aren’t familiar with people who live and rent multiple properties. Read moreI would give this store negative 10 stars the gentleman working in the sports/firearms department is extremely rude. I simple asked to look at a rifle and was told in order to look I would need to remove my hat and glasses. I explained I have not problem removing my hat but do to injury to my eyes from overseas I have a prescription to wear dark glasses. Given the fact this not an Academy Sports store policy as the store manager informed me. This gentleman became extremely rude. My wife stepped in to simply ask a question and he immediately shut here down stating this conversation is over. Yet we polite to this person and treated him with respect. This was to no good as this person proceeded to inform my she would not be allowed to by anything in the future from the sports section. For simply asking a question I thought that’s what they hired the staff there to help customers. Apparently not and buy all means don’t mention to this guy if you have a disability because he becomes extremely rude an unprofessional. This was are first time in Academy Sports and had items to purchase. We simply put are stuff back and refuse to purchase based on this person treatment towards me and my wife.
