Don’t let the strange recent negative reviews throw you off. And no, I didn’t get a discount or anything to write this. I’m proud to pay full price for my intricate sets every single time I visit.
I’ve been a loyal customer at OMG Nails since they opened. I traveled every two weeks from downtown Salt Lake to come here. Unfortunately, some recent surgeries have kept me away. Do you know what Denny did when he noticed my absence? He reached out to check on me. When I told him I was dealing with health issues, he asked if there was anything he could do to help. How often do you hear about a nail tech or salon owner caring enough to check like that? This isn’t just a place to get your nails done; it’s a place where you’re genuinely valued as a person.
On my birthday, they went out of their way to make me feel special. They not only treated me to a meal, but also gifted me some hand masks and cuticle oil to take home. Think about the last time you had such a genuine, thoughtful experience at a nail salon. It’s rare to find a place where the staff remembers personal details about you and makes you feel like you truly matter.
Denny has spent an entire day working on my nails because I always request complex designs. He’s never once told me “no,” made me feel judged, or acted like I was a burden. I’ll admit, there have been times when I haven’t made it easy for him, like when my hands shake or when I accidentally messed up a nail before it cured. Instead of getting frustrated, Denny made sure I was okay, got me some water, and calmly reassured me that it was no big deal and that he could fix it. His thoughtfulness, consideration, and genuine kindness have made him not just my nail tech, but a friend. He treats me like family, and as a plus-sized woman with a health condition, I’ve never felt more comfortable in a salon setting. At other places, I’ve felt judged, but never here.
Cleanliness is another area where OMG Nails excels. I’ve been there on days when the salon was packed, with people standing while waiting for their appointments, and yet they never slip up on their hygienic practices or customer safety. One time, I came in after recently healing from stitches, and Denny took extra precautions by triple-cleaning everything, even though the stitches were nowhere near where he’d be working. For anyone with health issues, you know how crucial this level of care is. I’ve also stayed late enough to witness how meticulously the entire salon is scrubbed down, properly disinfected, and everything is put in its rightful place at the end of the night. Their commitment to cleanliness is unmatched.
Now, I have to address the recent slew of negative reviews, which I find both appalling & baseless. I know these people extremely well, and they would NEVER do anything to make someone feel self-conscious, mock someone’s nail request, or refuse to fix a mistake. I’ve seen Jenny redo three nails for a lady who admitted she slammed her fingers in a car door—and she did it FOR FREE because she values her clients and wants them to be happy.
Jenny and Denny also both have a great sense of humor, and they like to joke around to make their clients feel comfortable. If someone misunderstood that, it’s not their fault for trying to make the experience more enjoyable.
I also saw a picture of some nail lift that was clearly the result of someone trying to remove the nails themselves. How do I know? Because once, Denny had to just do my base without setting it properly due to some extenuating circumstances, and it lasted for WEEKS without any lifting or chipping. So no, I’m not buying that someone’s nails lifted in the exact spots you’d expect if they were trying to remove them on their own.
In conclusion, the people at OMG Nails are incredible, and it’s disheartening to see people spreading lies or exaggerating their experiences. If you received a sassy reply, there’s a good chance you earned it. This family works incredibly hard to build their American dream, and I’ll continue supporting them with my business, full...
Read moreUnfortunately I had to delete my 5 star review. Before today I had nothing but positive things to say about this place. I would rave about it to friends and family and tell them how great it was. Today is mother's day, so as a gift to my mom about a week and a half ago I made an appointment today (mother's day) for 1:30. They took my mom to a table at 1:35 to begin her fill. She began with Jenny and then moved to get them done by Kristy. Both of those nail techs are great and I have had no complaints. The place is always a bit loud and rambunctious. It's not very professional and most the nail tech are whispering and laughing loudly or leaving the person getting their nails done to check in walk ins or take payment.
The main reason for me changing my review is the service I received today. I was taken back at 1:40 with a new nail tech. I specifically requested both Kristy and Jenny online when I made the appointment because I knew they were capable. I was later informed by Denny that I need to tell them I want a specific person when I come in rather than selecting it online. I have never been told that before and I have been coming to this place for months. The new nail tech very clearly was inexperienced between the beads of acrylic and the bumps as well as trying to PRY OFF my previous 2 acrylic nails that had partially broken. It was very painful and she eventually ended up soaking them off. Once the acrylic was actually on she had no idea how to shape nails. I would tell her one look crooked or had a bump and she would give me an incredulous look like I had no idea what I was talking about. Eventually Denny stepped in and tried to actively show her how to shape nails. She was still severely struggling, so Denny told me someone else would do my nails. At this point in time it was 2:15 and nearly nothing on my nails had been done. I waited 30-40 minutes before someone else was available to finish my nails. By that time my mom had finished hers and wanted to go home because again, it is mother's day. Denny was the tech that ended up having time to do nails. He shaped them and filed them. Which the end result was nice. But keep in mind I had been in the salon 2 hours and had only just finished shaping and my mom had completely finished her fill. I told them to put a clear top coat on because I didn't have the time to spend for them to do any sort of design or anything I wanted. While my mom was sitting someone cleaning swept a bunch of nail and acrylic dust right into her shoe. I'm so so disappointed that the experience was so poor. I convinced my mom to go here instead of her regular nail place because I loved it so much. Needless to say, both me and my mom will not be returning ever. They desperately need to both inform people they need to request people in person despite there being an option online for it AND actually train their employees enough where they are ready to actually do nails. I payed for my mom's nails and did not pay anything for mine as I requested it was the least they could do after having me in a chair for more than 2 hours and only shaping them. It's just so frustrating that this was the situation and I have to find another salon to go to. And it's especially frustrated that it happened with my mom on mother's day.
I would not recommend going here anymore. There are other more professional places with experienced nail techs that...
Read moreUpdate for owner as they want to lie and attack my character and say I lied.
FIRST: I have never worn Almond shape nails in my life. (They would puncture holes in the gloves I wear every day helping sick patients so that right there is your first falsehood.) They were oval and longer than this picture but yes they looked that way leaving because they were so lopsided due to his work.
You EVEN said you could fix them right there before I left and said you could make them shorter AND add more acrylic to fix his mistake. I explained I never wanted them shorter in the first place and your tech knew that! He asked if I wanted to keep the shape and length before even starting and I said yes.
SECOND: Warn me? Look at your cameras. I pointed out places and he had to get out more acrylic and fix multiple spots. Spots even you said you could see and would fix.
THIRD: I am a very good person, infact I care for peoole and save lives every day in my work and I don't lie about silly things such as a BOTCHED nail job. So come at my integrity one more time and I will get legal involved and you can call on all those customers. Especially since I was very kind and just kept saying I just wanted to pay and go without trying to cause a scene because of how messed up it was. I even remember the people there as well.
FOURTH: Yes, I said I went to nail school and was a nail tech and just wanted to go home and see if I could fix it because of how bad it was.
Tell me... if he did such a great job why on earth are they lifting so much days later?
It's because he didn't prep the nail bed properly or put on enough acrylic.
This isn't me "Ripping" anything off (Which I never said and is comical you try to say I did.) ANY trained nail tech can see this is lifting due to bad application.
FIFTH: If your business goes under, it is because of the quality, not because you finally have an HONEST review from someone not looking to get a discount for a five star review. Like you have on each nail station.
I hope you have the best day ever because I know the truth and what happend and I don't need to lie over some review.
ORIGINAL POST: They offer a discount for reviews... please don't be fooled.
I would give no stars if possible. I had to get up and leave and not paint my nails because of how horrible the fill was and I knew if they painted them it would be more money I wasted.
These pictures are how it looks only 2 days later.
I still had to pay for this... please go somewhere else. Don't waste your money.
I walked out of there crying because of how bad they were. I had to reshape them because they warped my Nail because they didn't want to take time to do a proper fill on the sides. And as you can see they are lifting like crazy, some the stuff already is chipping off after 2 days.
The guy who did them didn't know what he was doing or at least seemed like he...
