5/26/2020 Updated Review:
Came back here tonight as a family for dinner. We ordered The Sampler to share, as it feeds 2-3 adults and it was a pretty perfect meal! We ordered: pulled pork, brisket, and tri tip for the meats. Three fries and Mac & cheese. Our rolls came out freshly hot straight from the oven! The tri tip this time around was tasty, juicy, and seasoned perfectly that I didn’t even need to put any kind of sauce on it for additional flavor. I was really pleasantly surprised! Pulled pork is a family favorite, stuffed in the fresh hot roll for a pulled pork sandwich. The brisket was a multi-level texture (slightly crispy in the outside, soft and meaty on the inner level) packed with savory moisture with every bite. Tried their cream sodas for the first time tonight, and their pineapple cream soda and agave cream soda (we mixed it) perfectly complimented this fantastic meal. We received 2 minute checks from various people to make sure our food was done right and to our satisfaction. On top of all this, Krissy the manager, as well as Jacob the supervisor, really made this meal a home run - it really just made this visit and experience one of the best I’ve ever had when it comes to fantastic quality food + undeniably supreme top-of-the-line customer service! I have to give props to the management of this place, because it truly reflects down the line to their employees!
2019 Review: First time here last week and we came back again for the second time. First time we showed up on a Tuesday, where they had the daily Tuesday special of tri tip. Do NOT get the tri tip here - like, EVER. You can tell it was previously frozen, and then cooked, as the meat was rubbery and had no flavor. I ordered it with fries (they call them chips here), and their sweet and wild salad, which is a pretty good size salad. We chatted with the manager Jacob about the tri tip and he was more than happy to sub it for something else we would enjoy. Subbed it for the brisket, which was fantastic. Came back today and ordered brisket, pulled pork (which is also fantastic), fries , loaded smashers (loaded baked potato), and their rolls. All was fantastic today, and even Jacob was the one who delivered our food and recognized us from last week, and welcomed us back! By the way their bread rolls are similar to Texas Roadhouse, served with cinnamon...
Read moreAs an Australian, this is the most unaustralian place I've ever eaten. I give gimmicky restaurants a pass usually, but there wasnt one redeeming quality of having eaten here. Trust the recent hit or miss reviews - it isn't worth it. I don't leave bad reviews often because I give the benefit of the doubt, but there was truly no redeeming quality to the food or experience.
The cashier was slow, and when I ordered pomegranate limeade I wasn't told anything. We were pushed fountain drink cups from across the bench with her fingers all in the cup openings. When I asked when id get my drink after our food was brought out, I was told it was sold out "but you can get a fountain drink". When I said I'd like the price difference at least refunded, the girl swivelled and speed-walked away from us and never came back. The fountain drink I ended up getting had run out of syrup and was just soda water.
So the service was abysmal and I never got what I ordered OR a refund of the item. But then the food wasn't even redeemable. We ordered the pork sandwich/Sanger and croc burger. The brisket was cold. The "bacon" on my burger was smaller than my thumb. The beef patty was warm, but was so burnt I had to unshell it from the charcoal. We also ordered mac n cheese and cucumber salad, both of which needed an immense amount of salt to taste seasoned at all. The coleslaw on my partner's burger tasted of marijuana too, as if the chef hadn't washed their hands at after taking a smoke break. And to top it all off, we both felt unwell after eating here with stomach aches.
As far as environment goes, almost all Australian maps lack Tasmania (except for an external sign where it was clearly a later addition). The seats are all hard wood benches or chairs with no shape, so are uncomfortable to sit in. The music is generic radio, not even Australian artists or personalised. The logo of the store is on a few walls and that's the only decor, really. You have to pay before you receive the food so you can't even adjust your tip after the subpar service and food.
The only win from this experience is KNOWING that we hated eating here instead of wondering whenever I'm back in the area. I wish I could revise my tip. Hopefully the QR code feedback does truly go to management, but that won't get my time, money, or mood back after such an...
Read moreI was looking forward to a 5 star review, since I’ve eaten here before and enjoyed it, but I can’t say I had a 5 star experience. The door on the parking lot sticks a bit when opening it and I lost a year of my life when the door slammed shut behind me. I needed to use the bathroom when I got there so I went there first. In the first stall I tried, the door was sagging and I could not lift it up to latch it so I went to the next one. You guys, the door opens so close to the bowl I had to straddle the toilet to open and shut the door! Only one of the two sinks works well. I can’t judge the facilities too harshly though; I mean the place used to be an Applebee’s 🤷♀️ The line was wrapped around the front when I came in but it moved quickly and the staff is friendly. I was able to find a decent, clean table without much trouble on a Friday night and my food arrived after only a couple of minutes. When it did, I was in brisket heaven. Oh my gosh, it was soo good. 🤤 Fork tender and flavorful. I didn’t need any of the delicious bbq sauce they have, but I used it cause I’m a sauce girl. The roll is like a super sized Texas Roadhouse roll. I also had the wild and sweet salad which was great. The Mac n cheese was a bit disappointing. The last time I ate here it was so smooth and creamy, no black pepper and it was just so good. This time it reminded me of homemade Mac n cheese that one would take to work for leftovers the next day and over microwave on accident, loaded with black pepper. I’m not a fan of black pepper. I don’t think I’ll be ordering the Mac n cheese again. You have to try the Pomegranate limeade! It’s to die for. I fully expected it to have an aftertaste but it is soo smooth and delicious! I have regrets over forgetting to get a refill on my way out 😭 I’ll be back for more of that Ambrosia...
