Went in the Ames Habitat for Humanity store today looking for a lamp and maybe a night stand. I have gone to Habitat at other locations in the past because they're typically reasonably priced, but today their prices were so ridiculously high that there was no way I could have afforded anything that I was looking for in that store! $150/ $175 for a USED couch! The lamp? $35! Same as, if not more than, a brand new one. The night stands were $40 for one or $75 for the pair! I went to hobby lobby afterwards and found cheaper (and new) ones! Were these items not donated!? Did they pay a price and have to make a profit to break even!? I understand paying the rent etc, and if they had employees, why then I'd understand the prices going up even more, but they're (almost all if not entirely) volunteers! And they are completely overrun with furniture -there's a whole other store they rarely tell you about across the street just jam-packed full of furniture. So why hold on to it with enormous prices!?
