I went on the 15th to watch Avatar. And it was a horrible experience I took my 84-year-old grandfather in. The sound was off the screen was can't off and then when I went out to get my grandfather more popcorn and seasoning was told it was expired she threw it out and said I don't even know why my workers put it out in the first place. From the moment the movie started I was thinking about the picture quality and the sound PLUS THE MOVIE SCREEN WAS CUTT OFF. This is where they are speaking Navi and we needed to read to know what going on. I must sadly say I do not plan on going back ever again. It felt disrespectful to watch the new Avatar way of the water film that took them 5 to 6 years to make. Most of the movie is WATER and it is computer generated. The process of creating CGI is long, challenging, and very difficult. This takes years to complete and if done correctly it is stunning and absolutely breathtaking. This film was made with a fantastic crew and director. I was excited to take my Popo to this film because he doesn't have the best memory. However, he remember the first film and wanted to see the new second one with the special effects. This was a Grandpa and granddaughter's day. The movie quality was horrible. My 84-year-old grandfather was "okay" with the experience however he even said it was run down and the screen was cut off. He is never one to complain. I enjoyed the time with my grandfather. I did not enjoy the time at the movie, unfortunately. I spent 42$. ( It's the Holiday season and I don't have much money) I was told my 84-year-old grandfather could not get a senior ticket and I had to pay full price. Now reading the comments some people are saying they received free refills. We did not get that type of experience. That is very disappointing to hear in a small town like Anacortes where the...
Read moreThis is the second time in the last eight weeks we have arrived at the Anacortes Cinemas to find it dark and closed. No sign out front, no recorded message saying they were gone, running late, or that movies were cancelled. Mind you, this wasn't at midnight, it was at 1:00 pm on the weekend, with a bunch of customers waiting out front for three different movies to start. The employee(s) totally ghosted us. It was inconsiderate and a waste of customers time. So we drove to Burlington to watch the movie at AMC (again the second time doing this), and saw several other couples from the Anacortes theater there. To be perfectly frank, we won't be back to the Anacortes Cinemas, and it's time they went bye-bye. It's my understanding the building has already sold, and perhaps another entrepreneur will build a new place that is managed better. I agree with other posts about cleanliness and understaffing issues. However, it's difficult to have sympathy for a business that is struggling with staffing because of terrible management. If you do a bad job managing your business, and employees subsequently don't show up, leaving your customers waiting outside, it stands to reason you won't make money to hire enough good employees. Lets hope somebody fills the gap that exists in Anacortes for movie...
Read moreWhy would they only have one person working for a Saturday night?!? Poor employee was doing everything possible to keep up, but when there is only one person doing tickets, making and filling popcorn and drinks, things fall behind .... such as the start of the movie. Not to mention, the soda machine pump was down, there was no butter, and the theatre had garbage everywhere. I appreciated the kindness of the employee.... they were doing everything possible, but this place is really leaving a lot to be desired. Hire another weekend person, steam clean the carpet, fix the equipment and the hole in the floor, and it would make all the difference. Edited to add: Some of the subtitles were cut off during the movie, as previously mentioned in...
