I'm kind of curious if this place is actually just a record shop..... This entire store is basically one small section of every other record shop I've been. It's like something out if an episode of Portlandia. It's almost worth the visit just for that reason. I frequent the record shops in lynnwood, Seattle, Portland, Olympia, Bellingham, Mount vernon, and elsewhere and have never seen something like this.
I have a wide variety of music I enjoy, reggae, country, Latin, classical, opera , rock, pop, bluegrass, folk, rap and much more. I am seriously not joking when I tell you the last time I went in there (my 2nd time) I didn't even find a single album I RECOGNIZED. Let me be specific, not an album I was interested in buying, simply anything I recognized. The tiny record shop only contains indie rock, and other extremely niche sub genres... 98% (or likely higher ) of people will find nothing of interest in here. I'm not being petty, if you like a large majority of the music ever made on planet earth there won't be anything for you to buy here. Nothing is organized very well either, you go in and its like 3 shelves of the most highly specific niche music no one has ever heard.
I simply don't understand what the incentive is to not have even a wider variety of niche genres.
It's very disappointing because the shop is right near my house. But there's nothing to buy. I'd seriously be here every other day if this place resembled any of the other record shops I frequent...
Read moreWhat an awesome and unexpected find while on vacation. I am a DJ and tend to play a lot of hard to find quality lofi and downtempo music. The store had an album playing that really caught my attention and connected with what I tend to play. Long story short I spoke with the owner and walked away with exactly what I have been looking for to play at an event. As well as some new music to start playing. The Business specializes in high quality Independent music labels with a focus on curation. They made my year for...
Read moreSuper-nitch genre shop full of mostly new release vinyl. If you're into straight up abstract underground, noise, drone, ambient, expirimental, free improv, out-jazz, psych, stoner, indie, off the radar labels then this is a meca. There's also a great amount of accessible releases that encompass the aforementioned genres. Lots of Pacific Northwest artists/bands can be found in the bins here. Touring musicians between Seattle-Bellingham-Vancouver are especially encouraged to check...
