The first time I shopped at ALDI's was in St. LOUIS, Near University City, in1983. My how they've grown and changed their brand! I would say that, in the cooler months, we spend 2/3 of our grocery money there now. My 1983 experience remains in my head as how I imagined shopping must have been in the USSR. Potatoes, onions, sad carrots, milk, baby formula, inferior
For canned goods, frozen stuff, and boxed things, their products and packaging are as good as name brand things at ."the K-Roger pirate ship. There are some things we want badly enough to go to the K: diet Mountain Dew, Fruit on the Bottom yogurt; true Belvita breakfast biscuits, and leafy green vegs come to mind. Carrots, potatoes and onions are always reliable; they don't have much in local produce, but they do have a growing selection of organic fruits and vegs.
Go in off-peak hours, or you're likely to spend 10-15 minutes waiting.More than any other store I know, though, there's a sort of "club thing" that happens while you wait. People look at your cart, you look at others, and ask about things one hasn't (or has) tried. One common theme is, "their fresh meat has gotten a lot better, but a lot of the less common produce can be kinda dodgy". And always, of course, "Have you seen what K...
Read moreGREAT STORE with Great Employees We have shopped Aldi for a few years now and have come to enjoy the bargains on their quality items with real savings. That's what Aldi is about. HOWEVER... On January 28, my wife & I were shopping, (as usual), at the Beechmont Ave store and as we were loading our car, Stephanie came running out of the store. She had found the wallet I had, (unknowingly) dropped from my pocket. I have never lost my wallet before and I would have been in an absolute panic without it. My wallet is my "lifeline" and yes, it had over $800.00 in cash along with numerous credit & debit cards inside. For some, heroes are defined by military service, police & fire etc., I know because my wife retired from City of Cincinnati, Police Dispatcher after 27 years. In my eyes, Stephanie is also a hero . She literally saved my "financial life". I have not had a chance to stop in and thank her personally since but I do want management and customers alike, to know that Stephanie is a valuable asset to the Aldi organization and deserves recognition for her honesty. Thank you Stephanie, YOU...
Read moreOne of your male workers wearing a beanie with piercings is extremely rude. He was running the register and mixed my food in with the person in front of me. There was no divider to use so I made sure to make plenty of space between our food. When she said “that stuff’s not mine” he quickly replied “oh well no divider was put down” in an extremely rude and weird tone. Then when i went to bring the cart for him to put our food in, I guess I didn’t bring it close enough and he pulled it aggressively towards him and it loudly hit against the side of the register. It was very clear he was mad. I just will never understand being rude, especially if you work in customer service…it’s your job to be nice!!! And I never said or did anything because I understand everyone has an off day. However, that was ridiculous and made me very upset. He needs to learn to respect customers because if he can’t, why is he...
