I came in after 6pm. I don’t usually shop in Anderson and was not aware they closed at 7pm. Nobody helped me and the employees were mostly engaged in conversations with each other and the ones that did look up at me looked at me in disgust. I was trying to hurry since I knew now that they were closing soon and obviously didn’t want any customers, and as I walked over to another section I hear a lady employee talking to the the lady in women’s by the dressing room telling her not to let me in the dressing room and even worse was the way she described me with words like “dull” and “ugh”!!!!! She didn’t know that I was near her and heard her! So when she turns around and sees me I could see it on her she wanted to holler to the lady “her” I laughed and sat my items down where I was at and said yes it’s me you are talking about and I heard you! How rude! And I walked out! It amazes me how judgmental and awful people can be! I could come back with some “judgy” things to her but I will choose to take the high rode! She will never have to see me again bc I will never shop there again and I will at least tell anyone that will listen how unbelievably rude and snotty they are at that Belks! To the lady who did that, and she knows who she is, shame on you! If I had looked different I would have been welcomed in the dressing room! Sorry, I just got off work and wasn’t...
Read moreMy family has always loved Belk department stores. There used to be a big store in our downtown area, reminiscent of the Department store in A Christmas Story. They had big windows on the main streets where all the newest fashion, shoes, toys, and accessories were on display. Santa came before the Christmas Parade and on weekends for pictures with the kiddies, and people came to meet. During the early 1990s, they moved to an old Kmart building, and the down-home feel went away. My mother still buys all her clothes at Belk, and always will. Hopefully, they will ride out the storm that has closed so many old greats like SEARS, JCPENNY, ROSES, etc. My wife buys most of our family clothes there as well. Great quality clothing at an affordable price. This store in Anderson South Carolina is our out of town store along with the Athens Georgia store. We shop here every time we are in town. As a matter of fact, we are going tomorrow ❤️ for our Christmas clothing shopping needs, then on to Athens Belk. See ya there, we'll be the family that's all loaded down with beautiful clothes........at a...
Read moreWent in the store September 27 to look for some baby items. My daughter and I found a couple of items and then got on line behind 2 customers, who were together. The cashier Lori was pleasantly chatting with the 2 women as she scan their items. When their transaction was finished Lori chatted with them for a few more moments before turning and talking to another customer that was still shopping. Lori didn’t acknowledge me or my daughter standing in line, and the conversation she was having with the customer wasn’t work related. Instead if checking me out Lori thought it was important to update this other customer up on the lives of her family, and talk about her granddaughter grades in school. Another employee Amelia noticed Lori ignoring us and stepped over to her register and began scanning my items. Only when Amelia was halfway done did Lori end her conversation and step over to Amelia to comment on the clothing I was buying still not...
