I usually stop by whenever I'm in the area, bringing friends along with me. The positives: There is a good selection of books, you can usually find exactly what you are looking for. It's also very quiet and well kept. The food is decent and the Wi-Fi is pretty good, too, so it's an ideal place to read or do homework.
So, why did I give it a two star?
Most of the staff is about as friendly as any other bookstore, but it isn't unusual to encounter a rude staff member. I can think of 3 distinct instances where it was quite obvious the staff did not want to serve me and were very rude. There were other times where the staff just seemed disinterested in their work, which made me not want to approach them. Maybe I'm just an annoying customer, but I don't have this problem at other stores. The only even remotely bad thing I have ever done here was accidentally step in line in front of someone who I assumed was finished and try placing an order. Had that been the only instance, it would maybe be understandable, but it was not, and keep in mind that I come here often.
I want to keep coming to this store, but putting up with rude staff members gets old after a while. I understand retail jobs are not fun, but as someone who comes here relatively often (maybe monthly ever since fall semester started), I would hope to be treated better, especially when i bring them business. It is for this reason alone that i am not yet a Books-A-Million member.
TL;DR: Great store, but there are some very rude...
Read moreLove this place! Great, large selection of all kinds of books for all ages, in-store and online. Love especially the large bargain section ;). Friendly employees and managers that are usually more than willing to help find things, look in their database, and/or answer questions. Delicious drinks and snacks. Awesome shirts, toys, music, movies, and much more. Always clean. Huge parking lot.
Their Millionaire membership is more than worth the annual fee. It even comes with a bunch of one-time-use coupons that don't expire, every time we renew. Standard online shipping is free (a few items, such as from the marketplace, do charge a small shipping fee, though), and 10% is applied to all orders, in addition to discounts already online. The constant in-store deals for members and non-members are just as awesome!
Conveniently attached to the mall. We always make sure to go through BAM first and last on our trips to the mall.
So glad for their overflow/secondhand store, too, 2nd n Charles...

Blank stare. It's here ma'am I just ordered it & it said I can pick it up via email. "Well ma'am the book isn't here'. I laughed it off & asked for a refund to my card because now they are playing in my face. Idk why ibwas treated this way or why I didn't get a book that was clearly in stock but bam will NEVER get my money again. Terrible service. I will happily spend my...
