I am not sure who has been coming to this restaurant but I think all of these reviews are way off base! Our service was terrible, untrained (didn't even know the soup of the day), told me the only soup they had was the clam chowder that was listed on the menu. When I asked she said well I guess I could go look at the board up front if you want, and then she stood there. I asked for water with lemon and she confirmed that I wanted lemon with my water, no lemon at all and I asked for it twice! The food took almost 30 minutes to come out and all we ordered was a kids cheeseburger, two bowls of soup and two appetizers (Crab & Shrimp Dip). My soup was supposed to be Lobster Bisque (no Lobster or even Lobster flavor in it at all) the burger came out without pickles (apparently they do not believe in pickles as they did not have any at all) without cheese, we asked for ketchup, mayo and honey mustard, had to ask a few times. The worst thing as far as the food was concerned was that the Crab & Shrimp Dip was so clawingly sweet it tasted like a dessert and was lacking in any other flavor. I would have expected a seafood establishment to make a really good Crab & Shrimp dip with a little bit of a kick like maybe some Olde Bay Seasoning but there was noting like that. The tortilla chips that they sent out were stale and did not have any salt on them at all! When I went to the register to pay I was asked how everything was and I said terrible. The cashier said he wanted to get a manager. The manager was rude and unconcerned. She told me they have a "Policy of not discounting a check when the food is not returned to the kitchen". I told her I did not have a problem with paying for my food but I did have a problem with a waitress, who didn't have a clue, and proceeded to tell me to be patient with her because it was only her second day ever. Really?!?!? First, not my problem and second if it was only her second day perhaps she should have been partnered with someone to coach her along. And, if you have a "POLICY" about dealing with terrible food and terrible service then maybe you need to rethink being in the restaurant business. The waitress was young we had never seen her before. She rushed to the table took our drink order and disappeared. Didnāt seen her for 15 minutes or more. Returned with silverware straws napkins. No drinks. Before we could get a word in she was gone again.15 more minutes Went by returned to take our order still no drinks. I asked where are our drinks she said Iāll be right back. Now 1/2 hr passed no food or drinks. She was serving the table behind us I turned and said where are our drinks. She said your food is up. She returned several minutes later with food and drinks. Problem my order was completely wrong. She never listen to what I said. I donāt think she knew the menu because she looked puzzled. I repeated twice clearly in detail what I wanted. My wife and I go out to enjoy good food and service and enjoy a quite meal together. Not one sitting with no food while the other eats then having them finish while the other eats. Plus the fact she disappeared again before I could tell her she did not bring tarter sauce. Now had to wait until she popped her head out and told her while your getting that we need drink refills. My wife was facing the kitchen and notice her several time staring out the window of the doors in the kitchen but paying no attention to the customers. We Also over heard she screwed the orders up the table behind us. And drink order. If this would have been our 1st visit we would never return. But being here several times we will probably return. If she arrives at our table I will walk out and let it be known. She also was not left a tip. On top of that she never return when we were done with our meal and sat another 20 minutes waiting for our check. Then the guy at the register saw me looking around for the waitress and said he could check us out. Management better get on the stick or this establishment will turn into many other businesses that have closed the doors...
Ā Ā Ā Read more2ND VISIT @ THE HOOK: First of all the service started off terrible but then the young server made up for it as the evening went on. He went in to hiding mode off n on our whole visit somewhere in the back and not on the floor waiting on his tables. I noticed all of his tables were looking for him with empty glasses...We Waited close to 8 mins b4 he took our drink order. I was getting mad. There was no excuse for his disappearance when he didn't have any tables when we got there at 5pm this evening. We did feel a little sorry for him so we did leave a $6 tip on a $60 check. He could have gotten 15% $8 tip if he was a better server. Some kids today just don't know how to wait tables. I do believe the manager could train the staff a little better. Next time make sure your server is NOT wearing a baseball cap when they are on the floor serving their guess!! Very disrespectful!! I hope THE HOOK checks their reviews and changes the issues to make their Resturant a better place for paying customers. The restaurant is very clean, warm and welcoming. Just train the servers and this place would be amazing. This place could be super busy and making a killing if the owner or manager would consider some training for the ones who needs improvement on the floor. This place would be a great family or couples night out. It's perfect for a romantic dinner. I'm hoping our next visit will be much better. The food was really...
