We took our 2-year-old son to Annapolis Bowl today for his first bowling experience which was special for me since I grew up going to the same alley as a kid. The actual bowling was good and there are fun tools to help little ones play.
Unfortunately, the experience was soured by the front desk staff. A younger male and female were working and both managed to make even the most basic interactions feel unpleasant. They had an entitled attitude and acted like simple question (like how much bowling costs) were a burden. Instead of answering the woman just pointed at a sign :/
The arcade was also disappointing. Several games weren’t working and there were no clear signs as to which ones were broken. Another family warned us they had lost money on games that looked functional but weren’t. When my husband and I separately asked how we were supposed to tell which games worked he was told to “read the signs” (there were only two signs but more games were broken). I was told the arcade was managed by a third party so they apparently had no information or responsibility.
We left with such an icky feeling. It’s frustrating that the staff’s rudeness and lack of customer service ruined what could have been a great experience. I had my 6th birthday party here and had hoped to have a birthday party for my son here soon, but after today, there’s no...
Read moreLet me start by saying the lanes were both nice and clean. The issue, however, was not the bowling. If you would bare with me, and read on, you should understand the issue. To start, it is important to understand that Annapolis is a fairly large and important military town. The naval academy grounds (which many active duty and midshipmen are stationed at) are located right in the middle of downtown. One of the few pass-times midshipmen and active military have during the week includes bowling, yet to my surprise, at this establishment even military over the age of 21 are not allowed to drink. This is because military ID's are vertical(trivial I know). Customers are required to show a horizontal ID, even if they have two vertical ID's with the same name and birthday (and one is a military ID). It is extremely disappointing that this establishment does not accept a military ID because it factors out all military personnel under the age of 25, not just 21 (because the majority do not make it to their home state, or are required to renew their license until 25 because they are in the military.) To have an establishment in such a [generally] friendly military town not respect/take a military ID is extremely disappointing. It is safe to say I will not be returning to this establishment, and will advise others to stay...
Read moreI visited Annapolis Bowl with my family because they had decent prices for a group of four. The pricing can be a bit confusing, it was $5.75 for shoe rental and $7 per person per game, or you could pay per hour. When explaining it to my sister in front of the hostess, I accidentally misinterpreted the pricing, thinking it was $7 per game total rather than per person. This led to some confusion when we checked out, and the total was higher than expected.
Once I realized the mistake, I asked if I could get a refund to switch from paying per person per game to an hourly rate. Unfortunately, the hostess seemed annoyed and was not very helpful, so I had to escalate the issue. Thankfully, Angie, another employee, stepped in and handled everything smoothly in just five minutes, she was amazing and super helpful.
Additionally, the hostess forgot to set up bumpers for my disabled nephew, so we had to remind them again. Aside from these small hiccups, the place was clean, and we had a great time. A few lanes had technical issues, but overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely...
