Mostly grateful for 164 - there has been a void in Annapolis for a meeting club and Iām glad that thereās a place for the people who do not have access to internet or donāt benefit from zoom meetings. The meetings are great, but the one disappointment is that the club does not adhere to basic tenets of the 12 steps, specifically Tradition 10 and the Preamble. Tradition Ten: āAlcoholics Anonymous has no opinion on outside issues; hence the A.A. name ought never be drawn into public controversy.ā No one, not even the bartender wore a mask when there was a county ordinance to do so during the pandemic. There are over a hundred people packed in there sometimes. I wore one because I am immunocompromised. However, I definitely received some sideways glances, which told me that I was in a political space. Taking a seemingly political stand flies in the face of all things Recovery.
As for the preamble, the club displays a large cross in the main room. I am Christian, but no one should feel excluded from recovery. If religious symbology offends you, just try to ignore it and know that religion is NOT what 12 step programs are about. The club is privately held and the owners have every right to display a religious symbol.
It would be really great if the owners of the club turned the management of it over to a board of directors comprised of people who could properly represent the various 12 step programs. In so doing, we could make sure that basic tenets of the 12 Steps were upheld and that the club could be a safe harbor for everyone, not just a subset of folks who...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love club 164! I am so grateful we have a place like this for the recovery community! Out in Annapolis Maryland we have a very big and amazing recovery community, and we have really needed something like this for us! It gives us super easy access to meetings, It's right by the bus line, so it's easy to get to for those who don't drive, it's a great place to work with your sponsor, and to make friends and build a sober network, and to have fun, there is even a small childrens daycare so the kids can play while you get a meeting in, so it's nice for those who have to bring their children to meetings too! I love that there are events going on and live music sometimes, so it is a place we can also have FUN in recovery! I am very grateful we have club 164, and it is an absolutely beautiful...

I met Matt tonight his very last visitor he welcome me haha first on the defensive saying I quit drinking 0524/21 because of seizures and a concussion. Said it was my choice I need support from God and a allot of family and friends praying for me.
On the offensive I know where to visit for healing, good advice, meet friends, play pool, watch TV or grab a snack. After that Matt gave me a run down of the Club164 existence for AA and or NA meetings to take place, the coffee counter, and USB outlets to use.
