If you've ever read my reviews. You know I always have nothing but praise for the HomeGoods/Homesense family. Unfortunately, this experience was not a good one. Please be patient and read entire negative rating so the same thing wont happen to you. My daughter, who is an Interiors Designer and does a great deal of business with both of these stores, had her assistant return some mdse of which the receipt was misplaced. They issued the assistant (who by the way works there part-time in another location) a store card for credit using her ID but placed the card in my daughter's name in the system. Because the card was my daughter's, the Assistant didn't sign it and this was allowed. However, when my daughter later went to redeem the card later for more mdse, she was informed that since the back of card wasn't signed, she couldn't use it. After explaining that Assistant returned mdse for her and but put it in her (my daughter)name, she was further told that the Assistant would be only person to redeem the card because there was no signature on the card. The question I asked was if my daughter couldn't use card without signature how was Assistant gonna use it without one. The salesperson explained the card would be void and unusable without the required signature on back. Answer not acceptable!!. My daughter reiterated that card was in her name so she should be able to use it with her ID. By this time three associates (one being some form of management) were involved and story repeated again with same response. She was told this was not the policy to redeem card with no signature. My daughter asked if her name showed up when card info was keyed in along with her ID, could she redeem? She was told yes, but if her name was not, once keyed in, the card would automatically be void and she would have forfeited the full amount of credit. Again, not acceptable!! Noone is gonna return mdse and receive nothing...basically giving store FREE money. Fortunately, her name was in the system and she was able to use card. My problem was if it's store policy to have customers show ID and sign card upon issuance when making a no receipt return and THE STORE allows customer to do so without signature, how can you take msde, not guaranteed card signed at the time credit issued and then deny customer the right to redeem card at later date. Furthermore more, my daughter stated multiple times that the card was in her name; yet it wasnt until three associates later when she asked them to check...yes she had to ask, they didn't offer, that she was able to redeem it..but remember, that's not store policy, she were doing her a favor as a customer eventhough it was truly her money!! This is ridiculous and they need to revisit their policy. Mst people upon being told this would have just left store, signed card and redeemed at another location. They would have never known she didn't sign it at the time of return. My daughter was being honest but had to go through all of this unnecessarily.....Bad...
Read moreAs I was walking into the store, I originally wanted to look for some nice new paintings. The selection they had was very poor, so I remembered that I needed something else - a rack that I could place on the wall above my sink in order to hang my kitchen utensils. I went up to an older gentlemen who worked there and I asked for help. As I was walking toward him he raised his finger at me and said "Give me one second." as if he didn't want me to even come near him. He had to answer the phone, which I understand is important. No big deal. I'll just talk to him after he's done. I'm standing there, in front of him, as he finishes his phone call and he immediately runs and hides from me in order to help someone else. I thought to myself, "Screw him, I'll find someone else to help me." I went up to a woman who looks me right in the eye and she literally walks away from me as I say, "Excuse me!" at least three times, until she ends up in the back of the store. I saw at least two other people on the floor, assisting every customer in sight that wasn't me, and they all looked at me, clearly not able to find what I was looking for, and they just did NOT care at all.
I finally realized, they didn't want to help me. No one would have, because they all had terrible attitudes and believed I was just a teenage boy, that would give them a hard time. I was wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt at the time, and the only explanation I can think of, is that I wasn't worth helping because I wasn't an older woman with a purse.
This has happened to me before, and I'm sick of people discriminating me for being a young man wearing comfortable clothing.
I hope those employees see this review, because I know you might not think my business is important to you, but I will make sure everyone I know avoids giving this store any business.
Just pretend I gave this place a 0 star review, because I definitely would if it...
Read moreUpdate: was in the store tonight 9/15. At 9:23 pm the store lights were turned off and a cashier announced that the store was closed (the store closes at 9:30) and told customers to revisit in the morning. Rachel came behind the obnoxious cashier and said that the one cash register that is still open is about to close. Apparently customer service is not a priority at this location and employees are Very comfortable with being rude and unprofessional. There is a professional and pleasant way to announce that you close at 930 . I hope they figure it out soon!!! I frequent this store and often find outstanding items both large and small. The customer service in general is also good. However, if you visit the store at night, they start turning off the lights sometime between 9:20 and 9:25 pm which I think is absolutely obnoxious! If the store closes at 9:30 pm, lights should not be turned off until 9:30 pm and all customers are out of the store. This is terrible customer service! Also stop locking the doors before 9:30 pm. One of the emoyees had to unlock the door in order for me to get out of the store. When I got inside my car which took a minute or two, the time was 9:28 pm. I understand that employees want to go home. However, if you close at 9:30 pm, than honor that time and refrain from making customers feel like we are...
