This is a review for a class. It was two 90 minute classes working on squares out of A Modern Guide to Granny Squares in the store before it opened to customers on June 2nd and 9th 2024. I was a little nervous because the syllabus the instructor emailed us said it was three classes. When we arrived she apologized for that and said she'd tweak it to work by dropping one of the four squares listed on the syllabus. For the first class we started a plain granny square and got to about the third round (out of eight) when the class ended. We were told to finish that square and complete a second, different plain square for homework. While at the class, some of the attendees suggested that instead of the tapestry square the instructor picked out, we should do a similarly rated but more complex square instead that used several new techniques. I said that I was worried it would be too complicated since we hadn't even finished the first simple square but was assured we could complete it during the next class. At the start of the next class I mentioned again that I thought the square was too complex for such a short class but was told we should have received an email telling us to also start the more complex square. I, along with at least one another woman did not receive an email. That was odd, since I had emailed back and forth with the instructor before class, but we caught up. By the end of the class no one had moved on past the center section detail so it didn't really matter who started at home. We were all very far from completing the square and the next sections included needing to know a lot of new skills. At the end of the 90 minutes the instructor asked if we'd like to meet again for a third time and finish the square. We all thought it sounded good and re-shared our contact info. The next day I got a text saying we would have a third class learn the skills to complete the square we started but we had to pay more money for it. I was shocked. I thought she was offering the third class because we didn't finish any square in class, didn't learn any finishing techniques or learn tapestry like the syllabus said or intarsia like the complex pattern called for. We started two squares in class, finished neither and were required to teach ourselves a third square at home. I thought we were being understanding and they were being professional by offering to come in for a third unscheduled week to finish the class. I think the time could have worked if we did a simpler square for the second in-class square and the requirements on the site included knowing how to make a magic circle so we didn't have to spend time learning that on the first class. Keeping that in mind, this next part is really weird and what pushed me to post this review. I noticed that the requirements for the class when I signed up were different than they are on the site now even though the class has ended. I screenshotted them for my reference back when I paid in mid-May so I know I'm not imagining things! How bizarre is it to change the requirements after the class was filled and possibly even occurred? I 100% know I was the last person to sign up for the class because my husband wanted to attend with me but there was only one slot left and we decided I'd take it. No new sessions are scheduled and the dates listed are the ones I attended. I’m sharing the dated screen shots. I knew these skills coming in but no one else seemed to and why would they? They weren't required when they signed up and paid. In short we didn't accomplish all of the stated goals of the listing, the syllabus or what was told to us the first day in class and they wanted us come back and pay to pay extra to learn them. Super disappointing experience. I spent $70 on the class and $90 in yarn there and came away leaning two stitches and have a square that is a quarter done and I don’t know how to finish it. The store is cute/well stocked with high end yarns and everyone was friendly enough but take a class with extreme caution and low expectations.

Wow! What an amazing store, with amazing staff. I walked in and my jaw dropped. It really is magical and I am excited to bring back my favorite yarn friends. This store has HUNDREDS of options for yarn, tons of patterns, buttons and needles, and what I found the most exciting- knitted garments with tags that had the pattern included. As a beginner- the staff evaluated my skills and set me up with a new pattern, some yarn and needles. They turned my skein into a working ball and provided me with the pattern and some instruction. I felt so encouraged and optimistic! (And my project is going very well :) ) It seems as if they have a “learn with us” option for an hour or two with some of the staff with reasonable $rates which is really cool. The only thing I wish for this store was that I found it sooner! Happy knitting and crocheting! Definitely will be back.

Met 2 lovely ladies, who were very helpful and patient. Nice, clean & bright store. Quality merchandise. Will definitely revisit when I need more yarn.

It was two 90 minute classes working on squares out of A Modern Guide to Granny Squares in the store before it opened to customers on June 2nd and 9th 2024.

I visited Knits and Pieces last Saturday and found the owner very, very wonderful. The store has only been open for 10 days but she treated me like they had been there forever. She was happy and smiling and greeting new people as well as helping me find a special yarn for the sweater she knitted that she was wearning!! I can't wait to visit again and hope that you all go to visit this store. Beautiful materials, lovely space and an even lovlier proprietor. I am a beginning intermediate knitter and she made me feel like I could knit anything -- and was so warm and friendly. I can't say enough positive things about this store. Often times I feel out of place becuase of my skill level,...
