Interesting place! When we asked a local what there was to do in Anniston, he recommended we go to the Western Auto store. Huh!? Well, as soon as we got to the store window we understood. This is a pretty unique place -- as much of a museum as a store. The vintage merchandise is not all for sale, but creates a great atmosphere. The owner did let us know that the store's purpose is to sell things. We really didn't need anything and the vintage items seemed to outshine the current merchandise.

A crotchety, rude old man came to the door as we were walking away and asked “what do y’all want?” We replied that “we were in the neighborhood and wanted to walk around and look.” He replied “No. Not for a year.” The sign on the door said “no lookers during these difficult times”. We go back the the next day WITH OUR MASKS and was told at the door why did we want to come inside? What was we looking for? And questioned to death on why we wanted to shop?!?!
