Mike's Discount Foods — Local services in Anoka

I have been going to Mike's for over 20 years now. I have to say this place has went down hill. Food used to be fresh, but now they keep rotten fruits and vegetables out just to make one more buck. Many things are spolied or on the verge of being spoiled are marked at super market prices when they shouldn't be because the super markets stuff is fresh and Mike's is not. It's a huge disappointment. I maybe find one or two good deals every few weeks now. I don't even bother trying to buy anything in the refrigerated section anymore such as lunch meats, berries or vegetables, because I find they're darn near rotten when I get home and start cleaning them. It's just a huge let down. Mike's wasn't always like this. It's just got really bad in the past couple of years. It makes me sad, because my family and I used to come here all the time. Mike's used to be my first stop, before I went anywhere else, now...

I had a great experience here. I wish there was more options like this, instead of feeling forced to only shop at the huge mega chains. Not to mention the staff was beyond helpful and understanding. My 6 year old son accidentally dropped and broke a pickle jar and they had it cleaned up in 3 an a half minutes and was so great with him because he was obviously scared and sad about it. I did make him stand there and see all the hard work they had to do to clean up his accident and then to thank them. I would love to make that a regular stop on a Saturday morning errand. If only to check out the 1$ shelf.... i love the store and love the friendly, small...

I haven't been to this MIKES in a while 2-3 years.They are smaller, compared to some of the others. The store was clean and organized. Selfs being restocked. The range of products was nice to see. Name brands. Fruits and vegetables looked good. Low prices for some items. Fun to find new items! They switched where you pay.Which is so much better. The older checkout may have had advantages,to see people in the store!! They now have another portion to the store,at the end. Treasures I have to check that out!. Staff friendly.
