I moved to Raleigh recently and this was the first nail salon that I came to. Iâm a 2026 bride and getting engagement photos done this weekend. I went in for a full set, having no idea what I wanted since I donât typically get my nails done. I was paired with Alex as my nail tech, and he asked if I had any inspiration photos. I said no, just something simple and round.
Throughout the process, he kept checking in, asking how they looked. Since I didnât see anything wrong, I said they were great, and we kept moving forward. But as soon as he applied the color, I realized I should have spoken upâI just struggle with communicating things like this. The color I originally picked ended up looking unflattering and didnât complement the shape of my nails. On top of that, while they were round, they were a little too pointy for my taste, making my fingers look shorter than Iâd like. But instead of saying anything, I smiled, said they looked great, and left.
When I called my sister, she insisted I go back and have them fixed, but I was determined to fix them myself. I got home, grabbed a nail file, and started reshaping themâonly to make things worse. Thatâs when I also realized I had forgotten to ask about my cuticles, so I tried pushing them back myself, which just added to my frustration. At that point, I finally decided to call the salon, and they told me to come back because Alex wanted to fix them. I immediately felt so relieved. I know this isnât the biggest deal in the world, but I was genuinely considering postponing our engagement pictures because my nails didnât look the way I wanted.
When I arrived, the owner greeted me and explained how to communicate exactly what I want to get the best results. Since I have shorter nail beds, certain styles look different on me, which I hadnât considered before. Alex helped me achieve the look I wanted by leaving the sides unpainted to make my nails appear longer, and the final result looked amazing.
Moral of the story: Speak up with your nail tech! If something isnât what you envisioned, let them knowâthey canât read your mind. Lesson learned, and Oasis Nail Bar officially has a new returning customer.
Alex, thank you so much. I will always remember your kindness when I look back at...
Read moreI came here about a week ago and asked for acrylics. I heard great things about it. I started with one person doing my nails, and then she got up and left mid acrylic application, and no one came to me for like 15 mins. She started doing someone else's nails. A guy finally came to me and continued. When I asked for gel, he put 2 coats on one hand and one coat on the other, I don't know if there's supposed to be a base coat or a top coat for their polish, but the last nail salon I went to did a base and a top coat. He only put the color on. He got up a lot and I ended up finishing 20 minutes after my friend who started at the same time as me, and the girl next to me started 20 mins after me, finished before me, and got her acrylics done. He made a few of my nails crooked and I asked him to fix it, and then he told me they were fixed but they were still crooked. On the side that he only put one coat of polish on you can see the uneven color. They told me on the phone it was $40, and I understand the extras will total the cost, but it ended up being $73 dollars which is fine, if they had made my nails even, and if I hadn't sat there for so long because of the constant leaving. They were very friendly and the pictures online are nice but I'm not happy. The reason I'm writing this is because my nail just broke in half when I scratched my arm barely and the gel is peeling off of them and it's been about a week. I've had acrylics last for 3 weeks. The ones I do at home that you glue on, (no acrylic) last...
Read moreAfter arriving for my appointment I was taken over 1 hour later. 1/2 of my daughters who was also included in the appointment was not seen until I was half way through my pedicure. My other daughter was seen last when we were both done. Not once did someone check in. Extremely unprofessional. Salon floors and tables were dirty and just all over the place. Staff is not friendly. The tech who took my daughter kept stopping every 5 minutes to work on someone else or disappeared all together. Save your money and avoid this place.
