Five Below — Local services in Apple Valley

Dear Five Below Management,

I’m writing to express a concern regarding a troubling experience at your Apple Valley location on June 17, 2025, at approximately 11:10 a.m.

While using the self-checkout to purchase a single item, my companion and I were approached by an employee who informed us that, since the store wasn’t busy, she was the only one allowed to ring up purchases and that the other self-checkout registers were closed. However, just moments later, a white customer walked up and was allowed to ring up her items at another self-checkout without being stopped or told the registers were closed. Meanwhile, the employee continued ringing up our single item herself.

This inconsistency in how the supposed policy was enforced came across as profiling and made us feel singled out due to our race. While we understand that individual stores may have certain procedures, selective enforcement of those procedures is unacceptable and creates an unwelcoming environment.

I respectfully request that this incident be reviewed and that steps be taken to ensure all customers are treated fairly and equally moving forward. Thank you for your time and attention to...

Where do i start! Reading through other people's honest reviews makes me wonder why they are even posting stuff like that. We get to this store about once a month or once in awhile.
