Magic Dragon Comics — Local services in Arlington

2021-11-20, Saturday 1320, store locked and dark. It seems this is a common occurrence by some other reviewers. No posted hours at the entrance. Phone machine says they are closed Sunday and Monday and to check the web for their hours.

The place looks cool and I would like to visit but it's hard when even the "posted" hours are not followed. I'll try one more time and adjust my review accordingly.

2021-12-07, I was able to get to the store during a week night. The locked store during "posted" hours still irks me. The Staffed person was knowledgeable, but may have been having a bad night. Two other patrons were pretty much hovering over them waiting for him to pull their comics out of the delivery box.

I was not happy with their organization of their boxes. The standard alphabetize and then by issue number is there, but there is nothing to tell you when one title ends or another one starts, and if you are looking for an older volume title, you just have to sift through all the them in hopes that it is in there (DC new 52 vs current volume).

They do have a great selection/collection of many titles from all eras. I'm not sure how much I will visit this place.

Buying online is convenient, but nothing beats skimming through the long boxes and experiencing that moment of excitement when you see what you are looking for, right in front of you. Issues you haven't ever held in your hands before! I drove down to Arlington after having this place recommended to me by another comic book store. They told me Glenn was the "Supreme Guru of anything and everything G.I. Joe related" and that he was. It was a pleasure talking to him and sharing some common interests. He even showed me some of his own rare personal collectibles he happened to have in the shop that day. He is very down to earth, gave me some some much needed advice and was incredibly fair with his prices. He is a man who truly enjoys what he does. "It's all about sharing in the appreciation and excitement of these books - that's really what makes it fun". He is 100% correct. I live about 35 minutes away and I will definitely be making a trip...

They have an extensive selection of current and old comics! They have a more reliable selection of back-issues of current comics than other stores in the area. It's the place to go if there's a current series you want to check out which you haven't been following! Their selection of older comics is mostly disorganized, but I think that's something they've been working on, and those boxes are fun to look through anyway. They have a good, though limited, selection of trades, and they recently had a great sale on graphic novels. Unfortunately, they don't have card sleeves, but they do have packs for various card games, including MTG. Shopkeeper is very friendly and knowledgeable.
