First time here. It was recommended by a local. It's an interesting place. They don't make the chocolates here. The chocolates are made either by them at their other facility, or made for them by someone else. For example, some of the dipped items were made elsewhere, and the many different truffles. come from California. Personally, I prefer a chocolate shop that makes all their own items on the premises. In additional, they sell other items in this store, including clothing, candles, and jewelry. Maybe they need these others products to bring people in or to make rent. Again, I prefer a chocolate shop to sell/focus on the chocolate. As far as the actual chocolate items, the vast majority that we purchased were just okay. We tried caramels, marshmallow, potato chips, etc. One of the items that did standout was the orange peel balls (and those are made by somebody else). The fudge was also good. Overall, not much for what we typically look for.

We have a weekend getaway at Geneva State Lodge, once per year. We were given a sample of Marianne's chocolate, while staying there, a couple of years ago. Some of the best chocolate we've ever had. Since then, we make it point, to drive to Ashtabula to pick up a supply. They have a large assortment of types. One of our favorites is the Red Savina. Like others have mentioned, the smell that permeates the small shop, is worth the trip.

We live in the candy belt so we have a lot of amazing confections in this area...that being said, Marianne's is my favorite chocolate by far! They are right in the historic Ashtabula Harbor in a shop that reminds you of the candy store in Willy Wonka! The marshmallow pecan squares are amazing, but go for dark chocolate! The chocolate suckers are also my favorite for gifting. So many types to choose from!

Went there today with family. We stopped in during the Wine and Walleye festival to see what was there and thought the boutique was cute. Unbeknownst to us, the bathroom isn’t for public use. It is not marked anywhere (at least not conspicuously if so), and we thought it was fine. We continued our shopping and intended on getting items from the boutique. Then, an employee snapped at everyone saying that the bathroom isn’t for public use and there are plenty outside. We were mortified and embarrassed, because had there been literally any sort of indication NOT TO USE THE BATHROOM we would have been totally fine with that and moved on with our day. Nope. We dropped all the merchandise we had selected and walked out. Don’t recommend this shop when there are friendlier and better priced vendors within walking distance. Literally use scotch tape and a piece of printer paper for goodness sake it’s like 0 effort to make a sign and not embarrass...

The staff were not very friendly at all! While shopping for fudge the lady behind the counter said “you don’t have to touch the glass” in very mean tone. And while checking out I was trying to make sure we didn’t have to pay for chocolates separate from the other merchandise so I asked everything at one register and she replied “yea, that’s how this works!” Honestly if I didn’t have my young child with me I would have put everything back and left. The other worker just seemed to be unconvinced by us...
