Our in-store experience was fine. The staff was friendly and helpful and worked with us to find a sectional couch to meet our needs. Everything after that was a disaster.
In mid-June, we went in and picked out our couch. We were told that one half of our couch would be ready in August, and the second half would come in Oct/Nov. We were lead to believe these were safe estimates, and it was implied that we'd likely get them sooner.
In August, we received half of our couch. We got a little confused what day we'd get it, because they shared the delivery to their warehouse date with us, as opposed to the date it'd be at our house (a few days later) - not a big deal, but annoying that we had to make some phone calls to get that sorted. The delivery ETA on the day of also kept getting pushed back, and they showed up at the very end of the delivery window, which was annoying, but fine.
In late September, they called to say that the second piece of our couch wouldn't be her in November, but was delayed till MARCH. After a few phone calls, we determined that it was already/previously delayed till January (nobody told us that), and then again bumped to March. As compensation, we were offered $150 in store credit (on our nearly $6,000 couch...). I found that kind of offensive, considering nothing in the store costs
Read moreI purchased a couch from here that I paid cash for, and paid in full. The sales rep was very kind. Upon my purchase 8/7 I was made aware that the delivery was going to be 7 weeks. After about 8-9 weeks I called Customer Service about the whereabouts of my couch. They responded letting me know that the parts are still waiting to be imported, and should be here in the next weeks. I wait patiently for the next few weeks. Still have not heard anything, not a phone call, text message, email, voicemail, nothing within this time. A few more weeks go by I and call again wondering still, where my couch is. I call customer service again on 10/25, they let me know that the store should have a delivery on either 11/11 or 11/12. Frustrated and anxious, I wait, because at least I had what I thought was confirmed date of delivery. I get a message from my sales rep the next day, (10/26) letting me know that the earliest my couch could be delivered was 11/26, after customer service told me an earlier date. Frustrated and confused about the lack of communication, my sales rep let’s me speak to the manager on Friday (10/28) when she is next available. As the manager calls me to apologize for the inconveniences of lack of communication, and says “these kinds of things don’t happen often, unfortunately this one slipped through the cracks, we’re trying our best” the manager then proceeds to try and talk over me on the phone, as if I was the one who was the wrong. The ONLY reason this is getting 1 star and not Zero, is because the delivery guys this morning (11/15) had my couch delivered, set up, and headed out within 10 mins and were on point. After 80+ days of NOT A SINGLE NOTIFICATION (phone call, voicemail, email, letter, text message) about the whereabouts of my purchase to have the manager make me feel like I was the person who did something wrong. We were interested in the Elwood electric stand that Havertys has but out of all the finitudes store we’ve visited this has been the WORST experience ever. My parents have been there several times to look for something they really like but they were waiting for me to go with them so that I can also see it and we can all decide as a family. So our visit there started with us walking In and Lika Bakos greeting us but not so much in friendly way almost like annoyed. We told her if we needed her help we would ask for it, my parents started walking to the Elwood electric furniture and I was looking around, randomly I hear Lika Bakos gossiping to her co worker who’s name I don’t know and says “this is like their 5th time coming in here and don’t ever buy anything” so immediately and very politely I walked up to her and said “my parents are looking around and I don’t think there’s nothing wrong with that as we are trying to make a decision on what we want to buy, so if we need your help like we told you before we will let you know” the other co workers cuts me off VERY VERY rudely and says “if they are not going to buy anything just let us know so we can go with other customers” I felt very uncomfortable and I was so frustrated that they were gossiping about my parents. I told my parents I wanted to leave and I no longer wanted to purchase anything from them. I felt so unwelcome. The Elwood electric tv stand is 1699.00 and I would a rather us spend that or so much more money on a better experience.
