Kum's Fashions — Local services in Athens-Clarke County Unified Government

I grow up in Athens and always visited this store when I came home from the military. My recent visit made me wonder. My husband and I were in the store looking at suits for an upcoming event. I saw some shoes that I really liked, so I tried to ask the gentleman about them but he was busy showing sunglasses, so the lady there tried to help me so she explained to me about the availability of sizes. I tried the shoe on and it fit. I went back and told the lady I wanted the shoes. She said she didn’t know where the particular shoe was kept so to ask me to wait in the gentleman to finish with the sunglass lady. I wondered around the store for at least 15 minutes before I decided to go to the pharmacy next door to pick up my husband’s medicine. I went back to Kum Fashion to the register and then lady informed me that he was still working with the sunglass lady. She tried to let him know I was back for the shoe but he looked up at me and continued to work with the sunglass lady. At this point I felt ignored. I know this customer was here before me but how much time would it take for you to step away while she was looking at herself in the mirror to grab the shoes for me. The other lady could have finished up with the sunglass lady! I can’t understand why I couldn’t be helped! I really liked the shoes but I hated the service. I’ve been coming to this store for over six years, and every visit has been nothing short of exceptional! The owner is incredibly friendly and impressively knowledgeable about all things sunglasses.

A few years ago, I picked out a pair of Ray-Bans that I loved, but the owner kindly suggested a different pair that he thought would suit me better (plus they were cheaper). At first, I was hesitant because the shape was outside my comfort zone, but I gave them a try. I’m so glad I did—they turned out to be the best and most flattering sunglasses I’ve ever owned!

Fast forward to today, when I needed a quick repair for a broken nose piece, the owner fixed them flawlessly in less than five minutes.

I went to this place to “just” get a pair of new sunglasses. I was totally overwhelmed by the selection, but the owner is by far the most knowledgable sunglass-salesman I have ever met. He knows everything about different styles, brands, materials, types of lenses, pros and cons of different brands, etc. He is superfriendly and takes the time to show you different options from different brands - I had no idea what I wanted - he was very patient and really extremely helpful!
