If I could give this store zero stars, I would. I recently purchased a bedroom set from The Dump Furniture Outlet in preparation for my wife moving in after our wedding. What was supposed to be an exciting and joyful time turned into an incredibly frustrating and stressful experience, all thanks to this store’s careless staff and appalling customer service. I bought the set from a salesperson named Johnny. When the bed was delivered, it was missing four crucial bolts. I immediately called Johnny, and he claimed they would order the bolts and let me know when they arrived. That turned out to be a complete lie—I never received a single update. Instead of waiting helplessly, I had to go out of my way to Home Depot and spend my own money to buy the exact bolts (receipt attached). I shouldn’t have had to do that for a brand-new bed. On top of that, the holes on the bed rails didn’t even align with the holes on the headboard. The bed was clearly defective. I told Johnny I was willing to drive one of their technicians to my home to take a look, but he said, “There’s nothing I can do,” and just passed me off to someone else. I went back to the store and showed them videos clearly proving the defect. They told me to speak with Lauren Norman, the so-called “Customer Service Manager.” Lauren asked me to send her the video and said she would forward it to corporate, promising I’d hear back within 24 hours. Of course, that never happened. I had to drive 45 minutes back to the store the next day to get an update, only for Lauren to lie to my face and claim she had emailed me that morning. (Spoiler: there was no email—she just didn’t want to deal with me.) I told her my wife was arriving the very next day, and I had no bed for her to sleep on. Lauren didn’t care. She sat there snacking on food and completely ignored the urgency of my situation. When I asked for the corporate number, she reluctantly gave it to me. I called while in the store, but Lauren started interrupting me mid-call, and the corporate representative hung up on me. Instead of taking responsibility for selling me a defective display bed, I was told to bring it back myself—as if I hadn’t already wasted enough time and money. I had to rent a U-Haul twice out of my own pocket to fix a problem I didn’t cause. No help, no empathy, no compensation. After several more calls and trips back to the store, I asked if I could simply do an exchange. Corporate said yes, so I drove back again and told Lauren. Rather than assist, she interrogated me: “Who told you that?” “What was her name?” “When did she say it?” It was shocking to see a manager treat a customer like this, especially in front of other people. I had to call customer service myself—again—and prove it while she stood there in disbelief. I finally picked another bed—one I didn’t even like, but I was desperate—and they refused, saying it was a display model. The irony? The original bed they sold me was also a display bed! In the end, I paid to return a defective item, received no apology, no replacement, and certainly no respect. I was treated like a nuisance instead of a paying customer. This is hands down the most disgraceful customer experience I have ever had in my life. The Dump Furniture Outlet is not just poorly managed—it is a complete scam operation disguised as a legitimate business. If you care even remotely about quality, customer service, honesty, or your hard-earned money, stay far, FAR away from this place.

UPDATE #2: The next day after I posted my UPDATE #1, I got a short phone call from their business office regarding the refund. And now I received my refund. It took a lot of energy and time to solve my case. UPDATE #1: The next day after I posted my original review, I got a phone call from someone who claimed that he is the online media manager. He said that it becomes a he said-she said situation between me and the delivery people. To fix it, the Dump will refund me $100 as a compensation for the shipping and the business people will give me a call to confirm the refund shortly. Couple days went by without any call from them. But, in stead, I received a $100 coupon when purchase $499 or more on May 24-25 (see photos), when they have a special event. I can't see how $100 coupon when making a purchase would be the same as $100 refund. This is the third time that the Dump said one thing and done another to me. They totally live up to their name, THE DUMP! Original post: Just like most business, if nothing goes wrong, you will be happy with their service. But when something goes wrong, their terrible service will be revealed. We purchased an outdoor set. When they delivered it, they didn't remove the plastic of any of the cushions. Intentionally? We checked "everything" to make sure that it looks fine, which it looked like it was. We signed off. But before the drivers took off, we removed all the plastic and found that one cushion has a stain on, right in the middle (as shown in the photos). We quickly got the driver back to take a look at it. He took pictures and told us that he WILL REPORT it to the customer service and we should receive a phone call from them. Two weeks went by, I called them to follow up because we've heard nothing from THE DUMP. They said that they didn't receive the REPORT and they can't get to their delivery guy. However, as a courtesy, they sent someone to clean it, which he couldn't. Thereafter, they closed the case and told me that it was because I didn't report it until 2 weeks after the delivery. PS. my sale person who was really nice disappeared when I tried to call her in between the two weeks. I called her on Friday (not Mon-Thu). My take home message to you: Take your time to check everything before you sign off. Don't trust anyone of them, neither their sale man, customer service nor delivery people. You are on your own after they have the sale. The customer service manager told me that it is my responsibility to report the damage, not the delivery man. Which it might be true, but is it my job to know who I should report to when the delivery guy told me that I WILL REPORT? I've learned my lesson. Don't want anyone else to have to go through it like us.

The ol’ Bait and Switch occurred with a mattress. I bought 2 mattresses that day . One was presented as a unit that has the capability to raise and lower head, feet, etc…. There was never any mention of this mattress being sold without ‘the base’ which is how it works. It was presented as a unit. I have called numerous times - actually talked to a person one time who was supposed to transfer me to the store however instead he put me right back in the queue I had just spent 20 mins already. I have left 3 messages- 1 at the store after speaking to ‘Brian’ but never received a call back. Apparently they do not like to answer customer service as I have held for extended periods of time only to be cut off. I have left messages, tried numerous times to call without being assisted, and since it was my Mom and I - both female Senior Citizens we definitely feel we were taken advantage of. This mattress was presented as a unit- never a mention of a price for the base, never informed it was a separate base- no price, was mentioned just the ‘ look at what this one does, no information only led to the belief it was a unit. I bought 2 mattresses that day for my parents and myself. I can’t drive so to speak to someone I am going to have to get my 81 year old Mom to drive me . Not only that but they were going to charge me 2 delivery fees at $149.00 each to take one mattress 3.2 miles down the road. Now if by some chance we get this issue resolved they will again charge me$149. To bring the base here. If we cannot come to an amicable solution I think filing a report with the BBB as well as contacting consumer issues with the Government as well as bringing it to the attention of one of the major networks and of course the easily available word of mouth. After reading some comments above I feel like this is a common practice with this company. They didn’t take the old mattress my stepdad had brought to my house to avoid the $149. Delivery fees Additional fee to go the 3.2 miles. I even waited for the delivery of the mattress in stock since one had to ordered. So by their ‘protocol’ for lack of a better word is to charge highly unnecessary fees for delivery, getting customer to buy a more expensive model without being transparent about the costs involved and the derogatory remarks made by the salesman about his previous customer to us - his current customer .

Is this what the Dump has become??? A true dump . I have bought several items there before with none of this offensive treatment. Elderly disabled ladies beware…. The old bait and switch type tactics are still thriving at the Dump.

2: CALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE My 1 star review has been upgraded to a 5 star! The store Manager, Curtis contacted me to see what could be done to make this situation better. Unhappy customers are not what they want to have and he could tell from my scathing- albeit honest review was cause for concern. Curtis listened without interruption and took my comments seriously . He assured me this was not the typical way Brian our salesman did business. Curtis was professional at all times, had a profound understanding in what I told him and asked what he could do to rectify this problem. We spoke at length, addressed the issues one by one and he agreed the lack of transparency was indeed a much needed tool to help customers make a more informed decision . I wasn’t trying to get the base for free now that I understood the way it works and should have been told the price of the base was separate and the amount. We came to an amicable solution that made me happy and showed Curtis I was not just trying get something for free. We discussed the delivery fees and he waived it and made a reasonable price for the base. I am looking forward to getting the base and hopefully a wonderful nights’ sleep. Thank you Curtis for listening, compromising and giving me hope the Dump will once again be a place to enjoy shopping for affordable fantastic high end furniture.

They Charged me 20% for Rejecting Furniture that their movers damaged.

I went to the Dump in October 2023 to purchase furniture. At that time I warned the sales representative that the furniture would need to go up a spiral staircase and was assured their moving team could make it up the stairs based on the measurements I provided and that they would take good care not to damage anything.

While I was happy with what I ordered the issues started during delivery when the movers damaged the furniture, my staircase and my wall while going up the stairs. I then rejected the furniture as it was significantly damaged.

The movers labeled it as a no fit (even though it would have fit up the stairs they just scraped the hell out of it because the movers lost their grip and dropped it on the bannister). This way the Dump could still charge 20% for their restocking fee.

The Dump has refused to remove the 20% fee despite being presented with photos of the damage, acknowledging it was damaged, and multiple phone calls text messages and emails showing it was damaged during the delivery process. They claim that the fee is still valid because it would not have fit up the stairs, which is not the case.

Their customer service corporate team were also some of nastiest human beings I have ever had the displeasure of interacting with going so far as to insinuate I was lying about the damage being done to the furniture, staircase and wall. It was only after the furniture was returned to the store that they were willing to acknowledge it was damaged (not even discussing my wall and staircase).

They also refused to process my request to cancel the rest of my order (which was to be delivered at a later date) despite over five over the phone requests to cancel. It was only after I started to establish a paper trail of my attempts to cancel the furniture and stated that was the explicit purpose of the email and text requests to cancel that they actually cancelled it.

I would strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. Nobody wants to pay for damaged furniture but they will cover their bottom line when their movers make mistakes.

In addition their repeated refusal to process my request to cancel the rest of the delivery is a shady business tactic and I am sure that they would have claimed it was never cancelled if I had not escalated the issue.

Update #1 - After I posted this their corporate office called me to refund the 20% in light of the fact that I had the sales rep put into the sales notice that it was a spiral staircase. However, they are now refusing to refund the delivery fee of $249.00 which included money for items they didn’t even attempt to deliver as I finally got them to cancel them. Company even when it tries to fix its errors can’t not try to cushion their bottom line at the customer’s expense.

Update #2 - As noted in the owner’s response they eventually did refund me for everything. I would like to emphasize that they only decided to issue the 20% refund AFTER I left this review. They also only decided that it was proper to refund the delivery fee AFTER I posted Update #1 detailing their delivery fee scam. Up until I left reviews they continuously denied that the furniture was damaged, that the 20% fee was not appropriate or that a refund on the delivery was owed. Throughout multiple phone calls, in person trips to the store and emails/texts they hid behind policy and attempted to protect their bottom line at the expense of the customer. I am disheartened that the only thing that moved the needle on this was airing their dirty laundry. Customer service and doing what is right matters. I would have likely furnished future apartments and homes here - providing $10,000s in repeat business - had they simply done the right thing up front. But I will never be returning now after...
