When my party of 3 (including myself) entered the restaurant we waited for about 3 minutes before anyone said anything to us. A gentleman walked up to us and asked us how many was in our party, I responded 3 and explained the other person was parking. There isn’t much room for people to wait in the front of the restaurant so my husband and I tried to move out of the way by standing in front of the coffee bar part. At first the host looked like he was finding a table for us but then began cleaning off tables and running food to different tables. My husband and I stood in the front waiting for a table for about 20 minutes even after our last person who was parking arrived. With plenty of tables available and what looked like adequate staff, I found that quite strange but nevertheless was eager to be seated.

Once we were seated, our waitress promptly greeted our table and started taking drink orders which arrived shortly after she put them in. We ordered food pretty soon after to expedite our service. I simply ordered 2 pancakes and eggs which came with your choice of homes fries or grits and a meat which I ordered chicken sausage. My husband ordered chicken and waffles and our brother ordered French toast with eggs and an order of home fries and also chicken sausage.

While waiting for our food we noticed that everyone in the restaurant was sitting with no food at their table. We also noticed that none of these tables were seated at the same time, which to us indicated poor kitchen management. We also noticed that when they were running food to the one table that was receiving food, they ran it one dish at a time.

We waited about 50min to an hour before we received our food. When we did get our food it did all come out at once which was a great thing. The food looked good so we were hopeful it would taste better to make up for the long wait. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. My pancakes were hard on the bottom and really needed a knife to cut through. Typically pancakes should be soft enough to separate them with the side of a fork and eat them regularly. The grits were ok at best and had a slice of pepper jack cheese laid on top of it. The eggs were cold and the chicken sausage was at best ok. Everything on the plate was extremely underwhelming. My husband who ordered the chicken and waffles and my brother who had the French toast also complained about how hard their waffle and French toast was. My husbands chicken was really salty and cold .

We spent a total of $65 and added a $12 tip. I would not recommend this restaurant if you’re...

If Heaven Had a Brunch Counter, This Would Be It.

Picture this: it’s our last morning in Atlanta, our suitcases are zipped, our souls are tired, and all I can think about is shrimp, catfish, and grits—like a true Southern farewell hug. After a wild goose chase for the perfect spot, fate (and our growling stomachs) led us back to a place we’d casually driven by earlier in the week. And let me tell you—divine intervention has never tasted so good.

It was Sunday morning and the place was poppin’. I mean, grandmas in their Sunday hats, babies screaming for biscuits, couples in brunch-standoff mode—the full brunch battlefield. The wait? 30 minutes. But somehow, miraculously, there were two golden thrones at the bar just waiting for us. We slid into those seats like two brunch royalty VIPs dodging the peasant line.

And that’s when we met Johnny—the bartender, the legend, the brunch goddess in human form. Y’all. Johnny isn’t just good at her job—she is the Beyoncé of brunch bartending. She was slinging drinks, cracking jokes, vibing like she’d had eight shots of espresso and an angel’s blessing. Despite being busier than a Waffle House on Christmas morning, she made us feel like her favorite cousins who just rolled in from outta town. I wanted to ask her to adopt me, but figured that might be a little much.

The food? Baby. The. Food. I got the shrimp and catfish over grits with a side of eggs and thought I was gonna have to be wheelbarrowed out of there. That plate came correct—flavor, texture, and portion like the chef was trying to fill a void in my heart, not just my stomach. I also got a chai latte that whispered sweet nothings to my soul and some beignets because my friend had never tried them. (Pause to gasp.) Spoiler alert: she now believes in miracles.

She ordered chicken and waffles (also for the first time—don’t ask, I was shook too) and took it to-go. She devoured it at the airport like a woman possessed by the brunch gods, proclaiming it “life-changing” between bites and TSA announcements.

In conclusion: 10/10. Would wait again. Would skip the wait again. Would eat my way through the entire menu like it’s a personal mission from the Lord. If you’re ever in Atlanta and you don’t stop here, I can’t help you.

And Johnny? If you’re reading this: THANK YOU. You turned a basic travel day into a core memory. You didn’t just serve food—you served joy, laughter, and Southern hospitality so warm I’m still smiling about it. You deserve a raise, a billboard, and your own talk show.

Until next...

All the food was really good. I went with my siblings and was really pleasantly surprised the service was chill food was really good and the music was blasting. ill rate each item we got

MAINS -my sister: the red snapper and grits—perfectly fried snapper and deliciously creamy grits with a delectable sauce that paired beautifully with the fish and grits. (5/5) -my brother: chicken sandwich biscuit with chicken sausage gravy (4.8/5) -my cousin: curry shrimp and grits—the flavors were pleasant and again the grits were superb, it was a bit too much curry sauce in her opinion so it over powered the flavor of the grits but the shrimp was perfectly cooked and really good (3.5/5) -me: waffle and eggs—waffle was really good and i actually liked the eggs they didn’t taste like typical restaurant boxed eggs. the turkey bacon was whatever but the home fries were nicely cooked crunchy on the outside soft on the inside.

SIDES 3pc fried chicken— GOOD like reallly good i loved the crunch on the outside and the inside was perfectly cooked and season (5/5) french toast with chocolate chips— mid wasn’t really much of a french toast coating it just tasted like toasted bread wouldn’t get again (2/5) -mac and cheese— also mid wasn’t terrible but wasn’t something i’d care to order again, maybe if we’d tried it fresh out the oven since it was a bit cold but it’s whatever.

DRINKS blueberry lavender and mint mocktail— really nice and refreshing especially after you mix it and let it sit for a minute (4.7/5) -apple juice—pretty good (5/5) -morning sunshine mocktail— it was also whatever the orange juice was kind of bitter wish they’d added a fix element (3/5) -cranberry mimosa mocktail— also kind of whatever (3/5) -caramel frostino— suuupper yum and i’m not even really a coffee...

Grits and Eggs opened in March in the Lindbergh-Morosgo neighborhood in Buckhead. Grits & Eggs' focus is on farm-to-table breakfast ingredients, and they are known for their fried dishes. Grits & Eggs has pretty ample table and bar seating for a breakfast/lunch restaurant. There is a piano 🎹 at the front of the restaurant, which makes me want to practice a song to play before my next visit. We were greeted and seated immediately. Within two minutes of our seating, Mieshia greeted us and provided warm and efficient service throughout. I ordered the grits and eggs breakfast (🍳 over medium, home fries, 🐓 sausage). My husband ordered the fried 🐓 and honey biscuit (scrambled 🍳). Both of us ordered ☕, and my husband added 🍊 juice. @gesbreakfastkitchen proudly serves @costacoffeeus and @beautyh2o During our previous trip, I ordered a roasted veggie omelet (biscuit) and my husband pancakes and 🍳 (scrambled 🍳s, grits, and turkey 🥓). I ordered a Dopio Expresso and my husband ☕ and cranberry juice. The chicken sausage had a nice flavor with a bit of a kick (I like spice). Both dishes had well-prepared 🍳. My home fries were well seasoned with sauteed peppers (green and red) and 🍈. My husband enjoyed the chicken, although the temperature could have been a tad warmer. The usually memorable biscuit was not as fluffy as it was during our prior visit (but it was still good). Grits & Eggs cooks tasty comfort food with quality ingredients. I look forward to trying their beignets during my next visit. Overall, this is an eatery that is definitely worth a weekend brunch visit—Check it out before other brunchers hear about it!

FOOD We arrived with full appetites and ordered: fried whole chicken wings - seasoned to perfection. The best part was that you could tell the grease was clean as the wing wings were crispy golden brown. The fried lobster - was a tiny bit chewy but overall very good. Seasoned well and not overcooked. Lamb chops - temped perfectly, juicy and tender, no gamey taste. Yams - perfectly sweet and thoroughly cooked. Greens - no pork and flavor was on point. Cooked tender not mushy. They even diced me some onions for the top. Just wish they had Franks Red hot sauce. Mac & cheese - moist, cheesy and seasoned. Noodles were au dente with perfect cheese / noddle ratios. I have been searching for descent soul food in ATL for quite some time. SERVICE Everyone was welcoming, engaging and professional. Good service is almost non-existent especially since most restaurants have added the included gratuity to attract workers. Also, it’s super annoying overhearing personal conversations amongst staff. I can truly say this was not the case here. It was not busy and I am hoping they maintain this level of service. Thank you to: Asia - server Cai - Latte maker F.A - Manager Antwan -for giving us the history of chef and the establishment. AMBIANCE Comfortable and clean. We sat at the bar, stools were sufficient for my thickness. We have added this establishment to our preferred places to dine at our hotel and sister property! Highly recommend!
