0 stars really. Besides the infamous video floating around regarding the harassment and poor response / handling from the actual employees, here is my own experience. My friend referred me to go there so we could both get a discount or something that I'm not even sure what it was applied to (if at all) because you'll go on to read that the handling of money and billing here is all wrong in the first place, from the start. It also supposedly included a separate free "vip tour" which I feel like anyone who is interested in the gym should be able to receive. Several employees texted me throughout different times of the day that same week trying to schedule me to come in to sign up. I let each of them know that I wanted the tour before I commit. Out of the 5 that messaged me throughout that week, only 1 girl actually helped me set up a time whereas the others couldn't be bothered. At the time, they were open 24 hours throughout the week and close early on weekends. I went at 7pm, an hour before closing, for a tour and no one was at the front desk. Me and my friend wandered past the offices and couldn't find a single person that looked like they worked there, just people using the equipment. We waited at the desk for 30 min before my friend decided she would just show me around. Only then did someone come ask us if we needed help. The employee had been working out behind the desk the whole time and either hadn't noticed us for the entire time we stood there or didn't care. Upon signing up, I was billed wrong and never told my total despite the dude working there asking if I wanted to leave a tip. FOR SIGNING ME UP? Besides that I didn't even see my total until after I went into the parking lot to leave and checked my bank app for what I was charged for. Because I was billed wrong, I complained via email and phone and kept getting the run around when I said I wanted a refund. Finally someone helped me and talked me into staying, changing my membership to the proper one I originally wanted, tried to assure me that the guy who signed me up was "new" and "should have never been in the office alone handling money and signing people up", and they applied the balance I already paid to future month bills so technically I "Paid in advance". Fast forward to now. I have been a member for about 8 months. I go to the gym about 2-3 times a week during night time. There is never anyone at the front desk. The sauna is never working. Several times the lights in a particular room would cut off (motion sensor) despite me moving around in it with no switch to flip to help. The fake grass upstairs looks tacky and it's uncomfortable. About 1-2 months ago I started inquiring about canceling my membership even though I still had a few months pre-paid from the situation that happened when I first signed up. I wasn't even worried about a refund at this point, just desperate to get out and also wanted to be assured I wouldn't be billed in the future despite all this. I couldn't get ahold of anyone via email despite the spam of emails I get throughout the week asking me for a yearly fee or to join classes, none of the phone numbers who texted me eager to get me to join all those months ago were available to help me once they realized no commission for sign up was involved now. This gym run by students and people who peaked in high school has poor management and clearly poor judgement or maybe it is a reflection of the type of managers that work here in the...
Read moreWorst gym ever!!! Me as husband signed up a year ago under the impression that we would be billed every other Friday. Got a guarantee from Jon who was a sales rep at the time. Two weeks later they billed on an unexpected date anna overdrafted our bank. I went up to the gym to have the issue handled. Jon apologizes notates the account guarantees it wont happen again but gives no refunds. Two weeks later I'm back in there for the exact same thing!!! At this point we had enough went througb the process to cancel our membership. At this time our bank put a stop payment order on their account. A month later we recieve a letter informing us that due to nonpayment we were unable to cancel! I tried everyday to contact mrs moore in the head office in columbus with no luck, calls where ignored!! A few months later after recieving no letters from collections or anyone else the account hits our credit report!!! I went up to my local gym and there was Jon, now manager, with a ready explanation anf quick solution. Pay $50 per account and havr them pulled from collections as no agreement haf been made with 3rd party at that time. Lower the cost of membership and yup you guessed it, bill on fridays only! I agreed and paid the money. Our contract said our first bill would come out on February the 16th, it came out on the 14th. Went up and talked to jon, seems he flubbed but paid part of our expense out of his own pocket or so he says! Then me and hubby move to a better part if town with higher rent and tighter budget so we need to trim the fat. Tried to cancel membership the appropriate way. Was abke to finally talk to mrs moore who told me jon had no authority to allow billing on certain days and in fact had no authority to pull account from collections. Got disconnected from mrs moore and before i could call her back i got our very first phone call from the collections agency she sent our accounts to. They then proceeded to threat us with a law suit if we refused to pay on our dept. Now we are a single income family so again money is tight, you could imagine my shock at their aggressive actions. After battling for 3 weeks i have found out today that our accounts were never pulled. Jon made us brand new accounts and we paid the membership fees for those!!! On top of all that my husband contracted MRSA while using their fasilities and 1 year old contracted staph on her bottom. They bully people and only care about getting paid, they lie to get what they want and will say whatever it takes to get into your back account. These peoplr should not be allowed to confuct business this way and i have filed a complaint with BBB and am looking at legal actions and our rights. Im willing do to whatever it takes to make this place go under for what they constantly are doing to people!!! Jon is a liar and Mrs. Moore is no better. How can you tell people one thing and completely do the exact opposite?! I even asked Jon, as i was suspicious, if he had made new accounts or pulled the old ones. He assured me that he had not made new accounts and that the old accounts had in fact been pulled. Ya, right. Ill be up at your head office in the morning, hope your ready for a mad momma...
Read moreI've been a member of this gym for about 6 months and it's basically been fine, but I just had a disappointing experience related to safety. The new surface installed on the stepped landings on the ground floor is all black, which looks cool but is dangerous -- can be hard to see that there is an actual step. There is some yellow tape on central stair area, but not on the sides. Today I got off my bike and exited to the front of the bike instead of the side, did not see there was a step and I fell. I wasn't seriously injured and feel like a complete idiot, but the step was truly invisible with the all-black (or dark gray) surface. I was also disappointed with the response when I told the staff about the fall. They asked if I was Ok, if they needed to call an ambulance, but the general sense was that I was on my own aside from them calling 911. When I asked about putting down safety tape, they gestured to the tape already down, noted there was a sign up warning people, and said they would let the manager know. I asked if I could have the manager's email, and they refused. Which is...weird. They told me the manager would call me Monday. (This happened on Saturday). When I asked what their protocols were for minor injuries, like where first aid kit was, they gestured to a back office and reminded me I had signed a liability waiver -- so, conveying more worry I would sue than that they would actually care for their customers' safety. I don't want to quit this gym because there just are not good options in this area, but I don't feel great going to a gym where there isn't more attention to safety. No one at any point said: yes, we will make sure some tape is laid down here, to make the step more visible, we will make sure this issue is addressed -- which was all I wanted. The avoidance was really worrying. And while I'm on the topic, I'll note that the shower floors seem like a fall risk. I've never been to a gym that doesn't have some basic mats or grip tape down outside...
