Last night I was extremely pissed off! When we were about to pay, we noticed that 18% tips had been calculated into our checks without our consent. I was wondering why we were charged an 18% tip automatically, considering it was only a party of three. Restaurants usually only charge tips or service fees automatically for parties that have above six or eight people, and they always inform their costumers of this policy on the menu. The waitress told us that "paying tips is not a custom in China, so most Chinese don't pay tips when they come to the States"; the salaries of servers rely heavily on the amount of tips they earn, therefore, the owner regulated that if a group of Chinese people dine in, no matter how many people are in their party, they must be charged an 18% tip automatically, to avoid the servers getting nothing or pennies only. She literally said that this so-called "regulation" is only for Chinese students! To be honest, most of my Chinese friends and I always pay about 20% tips no matter how the service is because we appreciate their work. When I was in undergraduate school, I worked as a server for almost two years. I completely understand how upset servers are when the tips they earn do not reflect their hard-work. However, the country I come from and the language I speak does not justify their illegal and unethical behavior. The amount of tips that costumers want to pay depends on the quality of the service. Actually, there are quite a few Americans that don't pay proper tips when they go out to eat. I asked the waitress about this and guess what she said? "They grew up in this country, they know the rules of tipping, but they just don't want to pay, so we don't force them". OMG!!! What kind of bullshit logic is that??!! The real reason must be that the owner knows the consequences of doing this to an American; her business would not exist any more if she did. Most Chinese students are afraid of getting into trouble and unwilling to fight for their rights when they come to this foreign country. This is Chinese students' weakness and the owner obviously takes advantage of it. We deserve an apology from Fuji, and all Chinese students at Auburn University deserve apologies from this...
Read moreSecond time eating here. Sushi and service the first time was fantastic. This time we arrived we're not alerted to the fact they we're near closing, once our food arrived one order was not what was ordered and they said we still had to pay for it. I said I wanted the order remade and waitress said you have to pay for the other order still and we are near closing. I asked could order be made and she said yes, so I asked for it to be made. When she dropped the replacement off she reminded us once again we are near closing, then asked to fill drinks and when we said yes she reminded us they were near closing. She brought the check and again reminded us near closing. I less than 10 minutes we we're reminded 5 times they are near closing, we we're not the only folks there and we we're in earshot of the other tables and the bar, none of the patrons we're warned they were near closing. When she brought our ticket back she told us they were closed, she removed the soy sauce to refill and again reminded us they we're closed. There was still another patron within ear shot who was not advised they we're closed. When the other patron paid and left we we're boxing our food up to leave because we felt like we were and inconvenience. We had looked forward to finding a great sushi spot and I guess we are still on the hunt, because we won't be back. We should have been advised they we're near closing and that they could not...
Read moreOrdered online via a third party that delivers through Uber Eats. I called the third party to confirm order was received and would be delivered. They confirmed. I called the restaurant a hour prior to closing for lunch and she says they will cancel because they are closed (once again I ordered a hour prior to closing). The Uber driver was there before 2pm (or at least right at and they don't close until 2:30pm) and the restaurant refused to start cooking the order. I put the company I ordered the food through and the restaurant I ordered from on a three way call and the restaurant lied about receiving the order, and about a driver not confirming the order. The Uber driver called me from the restaurant and confirmed the order wasn't started. Please do not order to go food from this restaurant. It's a very strong possibility the order won't be fulfilled. They must have a high no show rate and are afraid to prepare orders ahead of time (even when pre paid for) and rather inconvenience the customer and delivery driver....
