This place is one of two places still open in this plaza and I will not be surprised if it also closes sometime within the next year or two. I haven't been here since 2018, so naturally I forgot how the trading in/selling works. When I got to the counter, David seemed quite annoyed by me being there for service and even more annoyed that I didn't put my books in a bin. Well, I explained to him that I hadn't been in there in very long time and forgot the procedures and protocols. His demeanor was not friendly at all.
When it came time for me to get my trade in values, which was a whopping $1 and some change for some children's books - I could have made more selling them online, which is what I will be doing going forward. I thought it would be a neat way to give my child some money for his older books and video games, so that he could purchase new ones. But the amount Second and Charles gives you, plus having to wait, the distance from my house, and their prices for their used belongings -- it would cost me more time and less money to just sell these items on Mercari and Ebay and then purchase second hand items there as well.
David also didn't remind me what they did or didn't take from my items and I had to ask if the bundle of books on the side of the counter was mine to take or theirs. I was in the process of walking away before I thought to ask. Had I not asked, Second and Charles would have gotten free inventory without...
Read moreBuying video games here is... something else. While there have been times I was able to find something for a pretty reasonable price, the rule of thumb is that anything of quality will be priced at a rather high markup. TL;DR, there seems to be a clear lack of care or desire to maintain the prices or selection of games.
Game consoles like Switch Lites and Switch OLEDs are sold new-in-box for 50-100 dollars over retail, despite not being scarce in any way.
Many games on the shelves have been sitting there, sealed, since launch day (which is often the better part of a decade ago) and have not had their prices adjusted in the slightest.
Pricing for games is wildly inconsistent: a game I bought for $5 one day was being sold for $15 and $20 the next time I went.
Games are also sold for prices that many times don't reflect their quality or contents- games with scribbles, marks or damage on them or their cases usually aren't cheaper to account for that. "Day One" or special versions of games are marked up in price, despite being secondhand and therefore not containing any of the extra content, making them identical to regular copies.
One time, a game I purchased ended up being a poor quality counterfeit- though thankfully I was able to get it refunded thanks to their good return policy.
Overall, a fun place to browse, maybe you'll get something for a good price, but otherwise, game...
Read moreWe moved to the area a few months ago and we were recommended to check this place out. Worst mistake we could've made. First off, the pricing is way too high. I did several Amazon and ebay searches and found that I could save by buying it online sometimes as much as 50%. Way too over priced, even for some of the more worn used items. But the customer service is by far the worst we have ever encountered. My wife and her friend (who are both deaf) were shopping around for Harry Potter stuff when they were approached by one of the staff. He proceeded to inform them that it was very rude of them for not addressing him when he asked if they needed help. He said that is was very disrespectful of them. My wife's friend, who wears hearing aids and signs, proceeded to tell him that they were deaf and he immediately apologized but the damage is done. We didn't complain as in most of the cases it never works out so we decided to voice our displeasure by not giving them a cent of our money. I surely hope that you're employees don't treat every customer this way. As a tip, avoid this place at all costs. Buy it online, and let this relic of the 90s sink away...
