I'm really hating writing this, I love the food at the Metro Diner. I however don't think this should go unnoticed. I needed to find a place to eat and have 20 people eat together for my birthday dinner and ended up being so disappointed. Let me explain. I know that in this town a reservation is nearly unheard of. So I tried my best to find a way to make it simple. I called Metro Friday afternoon @11am to see about the possibility of a large group accommodation. I was told a manager would return my call that day, I received no return call. So I thought, I know they have a large room at the back, I will call 2 hours early and see if that will work out. We wanted to eat around 630 Saturday evening, so I called @ 3pm on Saturday. I was told a group of 20 would be no problem, they would sit us all in the back room and allocate us waitstaff. I arrived before our group @ 6pm, figured I wanted to make sure everything was good and imply that we would be there and not be a no show. I was told they know but will have to seat us else where and probably separately. At 630 our group arrived, when we entered the restaurant, we was told they wasn't ready, and rudely, we would need to wait outside. It was 42 degrees outside.....I'm standing there with family, friends and small children. Kinda put off at this point, some of us waited outside.......for 20-30 more minutes. I picked up the phone and called Doc's Porchside, asked about seating 20 people, they told us they would push together tables right now. After informing the host, we left. Long story, but I've never went out of my way so much to be treated so poorly. I hate to loose on of my most favorite places to eat, but the others I brought, had not eaten at the Metro Diner yet and I can assure you they won't be back to give it a try. Sincerely...
Read moreAt first I was hesitant to review Metro well because we had a 20 minute wait to be seated and their prices seemed high on the menu. However, the prices ended up being more that fair and the wait was definitely worth it. I had pancakes, a side of biscuits and gravy, and a side of bacon. The bacon was expected: three slices of crispy bacon. The pancakes and biscuits, however, were not expected. The pancakes were massive. I would have to guess 12 inches in diameter. The side of biscuits came with four biscuits and a lot of gravy. They also serve a plate of biscuits and gravy, so I assumed the plate might come with four biscuits and the side come with two. I am scared to see how much the plate comes with because I could barely even finish my food. The server we had was amazing and checked in on us frequently. We had a service animal with us and they handled it great. They were also great with my odd requests like to get a coloring sheet and to have chocolate chips on my pancake (even better, they put them in the pancakes). Overall, I would dare to say this has to be my new favorite breakfast/brunch place. I can't wait to try their...
Read more2023-07: I have yet to dine in here, so my review comes as a result of a third party delivery service, but it's based solely on the food and response I received from the restaurant through the third party app. First and foremost, I believe the owners truly take pride in their business and wanting to have happy customers. While I had no major issues with my order, the response I received was grateful for the constructive criticism I had given. That speaks volumes. I ordered the Southwest Omelette and a side salad. The omelette was delicious, fresh, with tender crisp ingredients inside. No complaints. I had some hash browns with onions with that and I inhaled them. I was very pleased with something so trivial to most.. the ranch dressing for my salad. It was the kind that's made in house, stirred up in batches, not from a sealed bottle. Or so I believe... Buttermilk ranch, perhaps. My favorite. đ I'm hoping to patron this diner in person soon to try some things in house and experience that. All in all, I enjoyed my meal. The issues I had were miniscule to the point I won't even mention them. I'll definitely be going in person...
