I've been seeing one of Autonomy's therapists, Jacqueline Robbins, for about 7 months now and only have the nicest words to describe my experience with her and this practice. I have been through ED therapy before but never on an individual basis. When I started this process, I knew I needed someone compassionate, firm, warm, accepting, and nurturing- these all describe Jacqueline to a tee. She has gone out of her way to give me the resources I need and even went outside of our sessions to do this. She has met me where I was at every step in my journey and I feel so blessed that she was brought into my life. She has also worked with me on my issues outside of my ED and I always knew that whatever I brought into her sessions would be met with acceptance. Unfortunately, I'm having to discontinue her services due to my insurance changing but I know that if I ever have one of their accepted insurances again, this will be my first stop. If you're trying to take your first step in therapy and don't know where to start, choose Jacqueline and Autonomy. It will...
Read moreI found out about this studio on ClassPass- glad I did!. I liked it so well, I decided to stay on. In the maze of fitness, yoga, barre studios competing for your dollar, this one stands out as a unique gem. While many studios espouse a body-positive inclusive talk, this one actually delivers in action. The studio spaces are beautiful and serene and there are no mirrors here You will see people of all shapes, sizes, colors and genders (including fluid genders). At first I was worried about the lack of mirrors as they provide me about important feedback about whether I'm performing a movement correctly. However, the teachers are excellent and discreetly help you to make a correction if you wish (they are also consistently considerate about ASKING permission for hands-on, before class begins). I also like the variety and focus on health and movement, versus fitness and body. Classes include various yogas, strength classes, barre, nutrition, Pilates, dance...movement your way. It's about time such a place...
Read moreAs a registered dietitian specializing in disordered eating, I wholeheartedly endorse Autonomy therapy based on their track record of compassionate care with my clients. ED informed therapists are often tough to come by, but I know that any Autonomy therapist who sees my clients will be able to speak to these specialized concerns from an informed, educated, and experienced place, and I rest easier knowing my clients will receive positive and appropriate messaging about their relationship with food and their body. I cannot speak highly enough of the leadership. Collaborating with Kim on clients and various presentations has taught me so much, and made me a...
