Luci and I decided to have breakfast at Whataburger. We love their hamburgers so we thought we might try the breakfast menu. I ordered the breakfast burrito for Luci. It was much larger than the Jr burrito she loves at Sonic. She absolutely went nuts over the eggs in the Whataburger burrito. I swear she was saying yum yum as she devoured the whole thing. This was a nice size burrito. Luci only weighs 5 pounds (mini Maltipoo) and it was a bit of a challenge for her to finish it. I was very hungry and splurged. I ordered the breakfast platter AND the sausage gravy with a jalapeno and cheese biscuit. The pancakes were large and still hot by the time I drove home to eat them. They put 3 tiny tubs of butter and one large tub of syrup. Perfect amount of all three! There was a nice size sausage patty which was perfectly cooked. I usually don't care for most sausage at fast-food restaurants because there is a strong sage taste. This patty didn't have that after taste. I enjoyed it very much. The sausage gravy over the jalapeno cheese biscuit was amazing. If this is not served in heaven, then I am pitching a fit. I may even ask to be a Whataburger guardian angel. Creating this combination and cooking it to perfection deserves an angel of their own. Unfortunately there was one negative to the visit. I was a little disappointed the platter did not come with eggs. Plus it is pricier than McDonald's big breakfast (which comes with eggs). Both the burrito and the platter came with hash browns. I am not a fan of hash browns but Luci likes them. This time she didn't eat her hash browns because the burrito was so large she was too full to eat them. We both gave our hash browns to her older brother Hidey (aka The Professor). He is very picky about his food. He does enjoy anything crunchy or crispy. The first hash brown fingers were gone before I could cool the second ones enough for him to eat. He sat impatiently waiting for the second batch. He glared at me like an old college professor waiting for my paper to be turned in. He made quick work of them and was disappointed in me for not bringing more. The hash browns scored a 4.0. I loved that they were not greasy. We will definitely have breakfast at this...
Read moreThe Whataburger at 11135 N I- 35 Service Rd in North Austin has totally become unreliable. I’d suggest getting your burgers at another Whataburger location.
Today my daughter went to that location to get a simple order for the both of us, using my credit card. To begin with, the plain and dry cheeseburger (mine) had lettuce on it that she did not order. Her burger was never made. We didn’t notice the errors until she got home to me with, so she, of course, very tiredly went back to the store with the receipt to get her burger.
The manager actually refused to complete the order! He told her he needed to see the whole order in order to correct the mistake. She started to drive away, hungry and upset that I had been charged for a non-existent burger. Thinking about it made her so mad that she went back AGAIN to have it out with the manager. This time he made the burger, as he should have done the the first time she brought the stores mistake to his attention. I could pick off lettuce, but she was hungry WAY longer than she needed to be with an order SHE didn’t mis-order.
When I called to complain about our treatment to the manager, he hung up on me after mumbling to me in a heavy accent. He also yelled at me on the phone when I called back.
I’m hoping the Chicago aquisition of Whataburger doesn’t corrupt ALL the locations like this.
Bottom line: you now need to check your order before you leave the premises or find another...
Read moreI would give Whataburger as a brand 5 stars but I had one poor experience, and I will get to that later. Overall I'm satisfied with quality of food, service and customer service experience.
I don't eat beef or pork and being a Texas brand I was really surprised by the chicken sandwich which by far is the best that I've eaten from a fast food chain. The pancakes are good too, as well as the two salads on the menu. Everything in Texas is beef, beef, beef and so to be able to go somewhere and get a chicken sandwich and it get served pretty quickly and be on your way is a good. I'm a New York born and raised and so we're used to good food and fast service.
The only bad experience I came across out the many times I've gone to Whataburger was going to the 9613 ( not sure of the exact address number) N Lamar location ordering pancakes and then as I'm being served learning there's no syrup. No syrup on pancakes is like having a burger without the bun. Of course I asked for a refund. An hour later I called the corporate office to file the incident. If it was a mom and pop store I would of overlooked the experience but being an established chain I considered the situation unacceptable. Customer service was helpful in helping me create a ticket for management and I'm sure they'll do better with ordering for the locations.
Overall the Whataburger brand is solid and I wouldn't mind seeing some locations in the NY tri-state and eating some...
