This is by far the best sit in and take out Latino restaurant that I've patronized in Austin, TX. I'm a be very honest with you as an African American born and raised in the northeast (NY) and a vegetarian I'm not too much a fan of eating Latino food (from Central America, Mexico; etc) Most of their Taco trucks/stands, restaurants serve alot of beef, pork, rarely have yellow rice, vegetables, beans and so they don't serve balanced nutrituous meals.

In NY, NJ there are boldegas which are basically delis owned by Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, and sometimes Cubans (but it's a small percentage.) Most serve, beef, pork, chicken, yellow rice, an assortment of vegetables, beans; etc. I don't eat beef, or pork and if all I can buy is a chicken taco it's a one shot deal with me. I may buy because, I'm hungry but I will not patronize again. I don't eat White rice either.

I purchased a 1/2 chicken, yellow rice and beans like six months ago. The chicken comes diced up in pieces, a choice of either flour or corn tortillas, a little plate of onions, a side of lime slices andcilantro, and little dishes of sauces. It's like lunch and then enough for dinner. It was 14.99 then, and now the price is now 19.99 which still isn't bad because it's enough for two meals. So if you're solo it's two meals, and if it's you and someone else, yall both can eat.

I've eaten here probably about 5 times within 6-7 months and it's mainly because I'm not always in the area otherwise I would come more often. This is my Mexican go to spot in Austin. I must also add that the service is real quick as well. I just bought a meal from them yesterdyesterday, ate half around 7PM and got up an hour ago and finished the rest. Had to write a review.

A True Mexican Food Heaven: Taqueria La Montana Sets the Bar ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Prepare your taste buds for an adventure unlike any other at Taqueria La Montaña in Austin.

This hidden gem has quickly become my go-to spot for authentic Mexican cuisine that never fails to impress.

Let's start with the star of the show: the salsas. Forget store-bought salsa – my favorite is the molcajete one. Each spoonful is packed with fresh, vibrant flavors that elevate every dish to new heights.

Now, onto the menu highlights.

The Menudo is an absolute must-try. I's a comforting bowl of goodness that warms the soul. And don't even get me started on those handmade tortillas – Taqueria La Montana, please consider selling those tortillas separately. They're a work of art on their own!

The sopes hit the spot, with a perfect balance meats, lettuce and sour cream and queso fresco. My personal favorite is the bistec, but you can't go wrong with any choice.

And let's not forget about the tacos al pastor with pineapple – it's a burst of sweet and savory goodness that will leave you craving more. Trust me, you won't regret ordering at least one (or five).

But wait, there's more! When the weather turns chilly, Taqueria La Montana goes above and beyond by serving their homemade champurrado. It's like hot cocoa, but on a whole other level of deliciousness. Trust me, you won't want to miss out on this cozy treat.

In summary, Taqueria La Montaña is a culinary oasis that exceeds expectations at every turn. With its mouthwatering dishes, generous portions, and warm hospitality, it's a must-visit for anyone in search of an unforgettable dining...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you're craving authentic Mexican flavors bursting with deliciousness, look no further than this hidden gem of a taqueria in Austin! From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with the irresistible aroma of pastor being roasted with pineapple, promising a culinary adventure like no other.

The tacos here are a true masterpiece, reminiscent of the vibrant street food culture of Mexico City. Each bite is a symphony of flavors, perfectly complemented by the delectable homemade salsas that add an extra kick to every taco. Plus the corn tortillas are HAND MADE!!!!

Whether you're a seasoned taco aficionado or a newcomer to Mexican cuisine, this taqueria will undoubtedly leave you craving more. With its small yet cozy ambiance and unparalleled taste, it's no wonder why this place has quickly become my go-to spot for an authentic taste of Mexico right here in Austin. Highly...

Man, these tacos were some of the best tacos I had around this area. I got two Pastor tacos and the pork was marinated and cooked to perfection. The ratio of sweet to savory was on point, and it was a thiccc taco. Service was pretty good as well, the lady who helped me was polite and took care of me. The cooks there seem to really like their Gig, which I believe is one of the reasons why their tacos were so good. Highly recommend, will go back to try their other tacos.

The food here is not TexMex (which I love also), this is true Mexican food at its finest. They know what they are doing here! Their beef fajita is my favorite and the pollo asado is my 2nd favorite here. I have not tried everything on their menu YET, but I plan on it, especially since they are about 3 mins from my house! Definitely on my top list of tacos in Austin.

Solid pastor tacos and my favorite ceviche in town! Sorry, I know “the camera eats first,” but in this case I couldn’t help myself 😂 UPDATE: haha so apparently I ate all of their ceviche in the course of three days, as on the fourth day they were sold out. lol so maybe call ahead to make sure it's in stock, if that's what you're after! Still five stars!
